Chemical engineering major & econ. minor @ Michigan. (Will engineering help me anywhere?)
I am a junior and took the LSAT for the first time in Feb. and got 172
3.7 GPA
I am looking to go somewhere in the top 10 and wondered what my chances are...
Also, what schools should I consider to possibly ED?
Thanks

Jealous. Enjoy U-Chicago or NYU. If you really wanted Columbia, ED would give you a somewhat better shot. Alternatively to all of that, you'll enjoy a pretty good scholarship at one or two of the MVP bunch -- getting YP'ed is really your only concern with those schools.

Apply as early as possible and you should be able to enjoy a nice run this fall.

Re: 3.7 UGPA, 172 LSAT
Engineering definitely helps. Is your 3.7 your UGPA or the LSDAS GPA? The LSAC computes your GPA slightly differently.
You have a good shot at Columbia, NYU, Chicago, etc, with Columbia being a bit less likely due to your lower GPA. Harvard, Yale, and Stanford will be stretches, but great essays, letters of rec, and strong softs (obviously I don't know what you've done) will put you in the running. I'm a fellow engineer with a 172/3.8 -- feel free to PM me if you have specific questions!
