Multiple LSATs--Can I go to a T6?
Hi everyone,
I took the LSAT in September, PTing around 172, and bombed it. Got a 166. I retook it in February and got a 171. May retake it in June since I was PTing 175+ before February.
I have a 3.92 GPA, and some good extracurriculars/internship experience/letters of recommendation. I'm currently at an Ivy, and will have a Master's from an Ivy by the time I apply to law school.
With these numbers, what's the best law school I can go to?
Thanks!

With a 3.92/171 Ivy, you should get into CCN and have a small shot at HYS.

Will the top 6 schools average my scores or just look at the high score? The webpages seem ambiguous in some cases and in the case of those that do have a stated policy, I'm wondering how closely they follow it. Thoughts?

i have the exact same lsat scores as you but a slightly lower gpa from an ivy and was accepted to nyu (i was ed, so didn't hear back from cc before withdrawing). the average policy seems dubious at best. they seem to apply the average for very few and view most others with the highest in mind (this is nyu, can't speak about the others, but i think cc are even more explicit about taking the highest).agreeableobjections wrote:Will the top 6 schools average my scores or just look at the high score? They should consider your highest score, even if their policy claims otherwise. For example, NYU claims to average, but many on TLS and LSN have gotten in with a high score near median, but average way below median.

I have similar scores... 4.0+ LSDAS GPA and a 169, thinking about Columbia. Do I stand any chance applying ED? I've seen two profiles on LSN indicating there is some hope, but I was wondering what you guys thought. Thanks.

CCN and don't really average... pick the one you like best out of the 3 and go for the early decision agreeableobj.. you should have a decent shot that way, and will most likely get at least one of the others from RD.
HYS do consider all scores a little more, but its a worth the apps at least. Stanford is probably the one you have the greatest chance at out of those 3

My belief is that schools average scores if they are close together or you provide no addendum with reasoning around your scores. Or maybe if you do worse second time around. If you improve by 4 points or more I see no reason they wouldn't just use the higher score.

Saying you "bombed" the LSAT with a 166 is irritating. Nonetheless, good luck with your T-6 schools.
