I have taken the lsat twice and scored a 153 then a 154, my GPA is 3.43 but my lsdas gpa is 3.25 because I dropped two classes my freshman year (i had no idea they would count against me), I have a 4.0 within my major. I am applying to the following schools. What are my chances? Since I am applying late, probably will not have my full applications in until early February and the deadlines are March 1st, should I wait to apply for the 2011 year? I also feel I could do better on the lsat if I retake and spend more time studying (I was making high 150's to low 160's on practice tests).
University of Memphis
Univeristy of Mississippi
Arkansas-Little Rock
St. Louis
Arkansas- Fayetteville
and maybe Northern Kentucky

Especially if you feel you could do better, you should wait and retake. I know nothing about those schools, but regardless you should try your best to get that LSAT score slightly higher. Unfortunately that's what I'm trying to do.

Retake. Personally, the only school I would consider going to on that list is Ole Miss, and only because Oxford is amazing. I would never want to work in Memphis, Jackson, etc. which is where I think a lot of Ole Miss grads end up. According to Law School Predictor you have a very slim shot, but it is very late in the cycle, so if you can do better next year, retake for sure.

thanks for the advice. If I went ahead and applied for 2010 and did not get accepted, would that hurt my chances for the 2011 year?

Doubt it, though it is money time and effort. Also some school require updated letters of rec and personal statements so you might be wasting good connections/material. I don't think it hurts your chances at a school though.austin_ww wrote:thanks for the advice. Ole Miss & Memphis - Similar admission standards, small shot at both.
Arkansas-Fayetteville - Out
Arkansas-LR - Probably in
NKU - Probably in
St. Louis - Waitlist
If you are not retaking, you may want to add Samford & Mercer. I think you can get into both. But, you should probably just sit this cycle out, retake the June LSAT and apply for next cycle. Good luck.
