I have a LSAT of 171, but my GPA is 2.9
My major is Microbiology, Immunology & Molecular Genetics (which is a very competitive major)
School is UCLA
I have work experience throughout my undergrad years (mostly tutoring)
Will my major, school or work experience alleviate the low GPA?
Can I get into UCLA Law?

Sadly... no
UCLA loves GPAs too much.

No, No, and No (mostly because tutoring isn't good work experience).caliguy000 wrote:I have a LSAT of 171, but my GPA is 2.9

And no you probably can't get UCLA law.
If you had good work experience, you might have gotten Northwestern, almost for sure with an ED to Northwestern.
If you are applying this year, UVa has a late ED option, I'd try it, but its a long shot.

Re: 2.9/171
Take some time off and get good work experience, then ED somewhere (UVA/GULC/Mich are all possible via ED).
UCLA, unfortunately, might be out. They do seem to prefer higher GPAs. It's a worth a shot though, and if you have a compelling story / reason for the GPA I would provide it in an addendum to UCLA.

Going to be tough for you on the west coast where gpa is king. Like everyone else said, more work experience would substantially help.
