169/3.83 and unusual softs. Chances?

Post by Cujo89 » Wed Jan 27, 2010 2:35 am

I've got 169 LSAT/3.83 GPA from UC Davis and I have unusual softs (grew up in Alaska, homeschooled, graduating from college early, but I don't really have any resume padding, e.g. no internships or community service, since I was a college athlete).
Any comments on my chances at:

Harvard
Stanford
Duke (applied priority track)
Michigan
UCLA
UC Davis

(I don't really expect to get into H or S, but I figured I'll only apply to law school once, why not take a shot.)

Thanks in advance for any replies :)

When did u apply?

H - out
S - out (you might be able to pull off a WL, but I don't think so)
D - in
M - in
UCLA - in
Davis - in

As long as you were able to make an interesting story come through in your resume I don't think the lack of internships/service will hurt you.

Edit: changed Hastings to Davis, but it doesn't matter because you shouldn't go to either.

I got all my applications in on 1/19/10. I could/should have gotten them in before Christmas break, but I had a problem getting my transcript sent to LSAC. I'm hoping the late send in doesn't hurt my chances too much, but there's nothing I can do about it now.

Also, I applied to UC Davis, not Hastings.

You should also check out Cornell, Georgetown, Berkeley, and NYU as targets for your numbers. Btw why are Stanford, UCLA, and UC Davis on your list but not Berkeley?

For the most part, I only applied to UCLA because I got a fee waiver from them. I didn't apply to Berkeley because the city sounds a little bit too liberal crazy, and I wasn't sure I could see myself living there for the next three years.
Thanks for the reply, and I am also looking at some of those other schools
