2.6 GPA chances
My boyfriend wants to apply to law school next cycle, but he has a 2.6 GPA (strong upward trend, but still...it's shitty). What would he need to score on the LSAT to get into a T-1 school? I applied this cycle and have been reading TLS for a while, so I warned him about the risk of paying sticker for a TTT or worse and not finding a job after graduation (and how that's not uncommon even among the best schools). He knows the risk, and isn't willing to go to law school if he can't get into a decent school. However, he has that glaring 2.6 working against him. He's been scoring in the mid to high 160's on PTs. He's also not a URM, doesn't have much work experience or many extracurriculars. We're from NC, so he's looking at maybe UNC, Wake, Campbell, et al. as possibilities.

My gpa is comparable to his and I pulled my LSAT into the 170s. I have not heard (yay or nay) from any of the 9 schools I applied to but I'm hopeful for the ones in the mid/low T1

Yeah, I plan on doing some of that research now...I just know that 2.6 is REALLY low by TLS standards, so I wasn't sure how many people here would be applying with those numbers. Figured I'd just ask straight up and see what kind of response I gotfathergoose wrote:My gpa is comparable to his and I pulled my LSAT into the 170s. 171 *may be* enough for NU if he can acquire good WE.

Yeah, I don't see any substantial WE in the near future for him. And he's not really shooting for T14...I mean, if it happened I'm sure he'd consider it, but as for now he wants to look at low to mid T1.Veyron wrote:171 *may be* enough for NU if he can acquire good WE.

He'll need high 160s and a good explanation to mitigate that GPA even for lower T1.mytwocents wrote:Yeah, I don't see any substantial WE in the near future for him.
