What should I be aiming for?

Post by christinalsat » Tue Jan 19, 2010 1:52 pm

Have a 3.89 from Cornell and would like to get into a t14 school (though wont be crushed if it's at the bottom of that end). I identify as Guatemalan/Latina, but I'm told that doesn't count as a URM.

What sort of lsat score should I be aiming for to ensure a good chance of getting into the bottom range of the t14 and also stand a decent chance of getting into one of the t10?

I'm aiming for at least a 170 (by Feb 6). Am I aiming too high? Too low? Just about right?

Haven't been able to break past a 166 yet, though most of my recent tests have been in the 164-166 range. Three more weeks I guess...

These people have similar stats to you:

http://lawschoolnumbers.com/milou

With a 168 and 3.9, in at Chicago, Penn, UVA, NYU, Cornell...

http://lawschoolnumbers.com/Kretzy

170 and 3.89 got this person into Stanford, Berkeley, Chicago....

That's what I searched for, if you want to check out others. Your GPA is really good, so if you can score 170+ you have a good shot at essentially the whole t14.

Wow! So there's hope even if I don't break the 170. This definitely takes a little pressure off. Emphasis on little.

I got into Cornell and Michigan so far with a lower GPA and a 169, not URM, so I think you should be fine for at least Cornell.

Ahhhh, I did Cornell for undergrad and really really really don't want to go back there for another three years of my life.

It's a great school though, so congrats! Enjoy the sun wherever you are while you still can though!!

With a 168, you'd have excellent chances at Cornell, Georgetown, and Michigan.
