In state or out? This is most likely the determinative factor.

How bad do you want Texas/Dallas? LSU would be a great instate option. Way, way, way cheaper than SMU.

I have always wanted to live and work in dallas but if lsu gives me enough scholarship money or even if tulane gives me half I will heavily consider both of them. But I really was heart set on texas. We will see how this cycle goes. Thanks for the replies!

IBBS (In before BetaSteve). If your heart is set on Dallas, with your scores SMU should be your target, for sure. Statistically speaking, you might also check out OU, LSU and Baylor, but (anecdotally) there's going to be a substantial gap between UT/SMU and those schools regarding breaking into the Dallas market.

HTH and good luck.

SMU tends to be generous with scholarship money, so it might not be as expensive as it seems. UT is probably worth a shot, they seem to be a little less predictable than other similarly ranked schools.

For working in Dallas?

Not even close.

I think that with the right application / softs, you stand a good chance if you are a resident of Texas. Otherwise, I would expect SMU to possibly offer 1/3 to 1/2 tuition.
