Duke Priority Track, 3.5/175
Invited to Duke PT on Jan 4th. I thought it was weird that they sent it so late (do they have like two batches of PT invitations?)
Anyway, I've been under review since 01/13/09. I take it PT is a good sign, but how good?

Those numbers make you very likely to get in at Duke, even late. You're well above their 75th LSAT; even though you're marginally below their 25th GPA, that should be enough.

Re: Duke Priority Track, 3.5/175
I thought I was in good shape with Duke -- 174, 3.83, 8 years out of undergrad and a Master's Degree -- just heard today I've been put on Priority Reserve after receiving a Priority Track invite.
I'm guessing this does not bode well for the rest of the cycle ...

You think that's some YP going on? Seems like lots of folks with high numbers get the wait list there.

If you actually want to go just send them a Why Duke essay and/or a LOCI. The Priority Reserve list is basically their waitlist for people they're YPing.jgolimow wrote:I thought I was in good shape with Duke -- 174, 3.83, 8 years out of undergrad and a Master's Degree -- just heard today I've been put on Priority Reserve after receiving a Priority Track invite.

Re: Duke Priority Track, 3.5/175
Early on in the cycle the PT invites were considered to mean near auto-admit. Check out some of the lower numbers over at LSN and look at their acceptance dates. They really were accepting people left and right. Now it's much different.
Although my 171 LSAT is a bit lower than your own, I too had a 3.5 GPA and a PT invite. I got the regular waitlist back in December.

To the contrary, I wrote a very specific why duke and was "offered a spot" on the priority reserve list with numbers that should have got in.englawyer wrote:+1 i had auto-admit stats for duke but wrote a Why Duke. got in via PT recently.thickfreakness wrote:If you actually want to go just send them a Why Duke essay and/or a LOCI. They may be trying to get some high GPAs this round. I submited PT app on Jan 8th and got in Jan 18th. 170/3.9
There may be some YP going on though.

Numbers-wise that definitely seems like YP, you're well above median for gpa, and above 75% for lsat.jgolimow wrote:I thought I was in good shape with Duke -- 174, 3.83, 8 years out of undergrad and a Master's Degree -- just heard today I've been put on Priority Reserve after receiving a Priority Track invite.

Maybe they didn't like the 8 yrs out of undergrad?

Mid 3.5 and 174. No PT and WL'd end of december.
Maybe they are doing a combo GPA push with YP. You got to figure the average 3.5/173+ is going to get CCN, so maybe they are only trying to pick and choose the candidates with both 75th percentiles to throw money at and let the rest with lower GPAs compete with LOCIs?
Maybe I'm completely off and they're trying to be Berkeley-lite.
edit: As strange as this sounds, this thread cheers me up a little since I was pretty scared when my first T14 response was a WL at Duke. Seems like it's not so out of the ordinary now for my numbers at Duke this cycle.

178/3.6 also put on PR (no why duke and no evidence of interest in Duke) but have been accepted to Columbia and NYU. Don't worry.jgolimow wrote:I thought I was in good shape with Duke -- 174, 3.83, 8 years out of undergrad and a Master's Degree -- just heard today I've been put on Priority Reserve after receiving a Priority Track invite.

Re: Duke Priority Track, 3.5/175
A question does come to mind: How many of us who were put on either the reg WL or reserve WL have multiple LSAT scores?
I do (3 total, 2 low-to-mid 60's and then the 174).
