Any ideas on chances? Mostly looking in Southeast. Any suggestions for other schools or scholly info? Thanks guys.

It's hard to predict splitters. You need to apply to at least these 6 schools though:

UNC
Alabama
UGA
UF
Tennessee
Emory

Thanks. Think there's a likelihood of scholly at tier 2's like FSU or USC? Worried about debt though not at the expense of giving up too much in terms of school quality.

The larger name schools in the south include UVA, Duke, Vanderbilt, Emory, and Tulane (I'm not distinguishing between the Southeast and the rest of the South).

UVA - Out
Duke - Out
Vanderbilt - unlikely in - no scholarship if in
Emory - possibly either in or WL in - minimal scholarship
Tulane - in - half tuition +/- $10,000

Other schools in the region include:

William and Mary
UGA
UF
UNC
Wake Forest
Alabama

I'm pretty sure you are in at all of them. I'm not sure about scholarships though.

You'll get scholarship money from USCar - they are very LSAT heavy. Assuming you are out of state & from the looks of last year, you will get about 15K/year (not sure on GPA requirements & things like that), which would about be the same as in-state tuition.

Thanks guys. Not sure if anyone know this but for schollys like the example above how often can someone keep those plus get instate for 2l and 3l? Or is it pretty much one or the other?

Not that I should need to explain this, but here goes.

In the peak year for big law, Tulane placed 1/3 (33%) of the class into large firms (of course prior to the economy etc etc).

Vanderbilt placed about 40% into big firms.

I'm not sure what Emory placed, but I know for a fact it was less than 38% (the 2008 chart [it only lists the top 20 schools] - sorry I don't have the link).

~40% (Vanderbilt), ~33% (Tulane), and somewhere between 30%-38% (Emory).

There isn't that much of a difference in my honest opinion, however everyone has their own thoughts on that matter.

I also placed Tulane with them because of its portability (it's far more portable than any of the schools in the second group).

Tulane places in CA but gives up GA in the process.

Vanderbilt and Emory place significant numbers in GA, but have almost non-existent placement in CA.

Etc. Etc.

There's a lot of give and take, as you can see - but you get the point.

i had almost your exact stats (i was 3.04/169, also a UNC undergrad) and I got denied from UNC. they are very GPA-heavy. I attended UGA on the instate tuition equalization scholarship. It was a good deal. My advice is to apply to WUSTL - I think you'll get in (I did), and they even offered me money. Seems to be the best school for someone with your numbers.
