After the retake: 3.49/174 Chances?
So like everyone else I got my scores back this week. 174... 5 points better, but not the 180 I was hoping for
GPA is 3.49 from a top 5 school, with mostly As but two really, really bad grades that I plan to write an addendum for.
This is my revised list.
NYU
BU
BC
Northeastern
UVA (waiver)
UPenn
GTown
Northwestern
I think Northeastern is a definite go, but I would prefer to go to a higher ranked school. Do you think I have a shot at getting into any of these? My recommender is talking specifically about why NYU in the letter for NYU, will that give me a boost?
Thanks...

Honestly, I would throw more apps to the T14. CLS, Michigan, Chicago, etc.

Northeastern? Are you serious? Don't go there. That'd be an incredible waste of your numbers, even if they give you a full ride, which they most likely will.
Your numbers will get you into a number of solid T30 schools. The other schools you're applying to are a good start, add Chicago, Columbia, Michigan, Cornell, and WUSTL. Also consider adding ND and Fordham if those schools interest you.
WUSTL is pretty much your safety, they'll probably give you $$ with that high LSAT score. I'll be surprised if they don't accept you; if they don't for some bizarre reason, one of BC or BU will.

Hey all,
Thanks so much for the many responses.
Money... is an issue, unfortunately, and I"ll definitely take that into account.
About Northeastern--it's my safety, definitely, but I kind of like the large amount of work experience you get while studying there. I've always been a hands-on learner, and I do well in the workplace. So I thought I would include it to leave the kind of unique option open. Also, I love Boston.
I am just really worried about my GPA. I'm pretty keen on NYU based on talking to people from various schools, though academically, Yale would be my dream. But it seems so far off that I thought I might as well save the application fee. I was thinking about CLS and Chicago as well. WUSTL I hadn't thought of, I will do a little more research and decide... soon.
Ok, will work on getting these applications done at sent out first thing in 2010.
Happy New Year everyone!!!

You have excellent chances at NYU, but I would apply to every T14 except HYS.

Hoe is it WL-city? Another 0.1 GPA and he'd almost surely crack CCN...jawsthegreat wrote:Lol no, look at LSN 3.49/174 is WL city at MVP.rayiner wrote:Definitely in at MVP.

Look at LSN those numbers get WL all the time, whether you call it yield protect or whatever, he is going to get WL a high % of the time with those numbers.rayiner wrote:Hoe is it WL-city?
