GPA 3.94 with an electrical engineering degree
LSAT 160
Full tuition scholarship for undergraduate
Engineering internship for two summers
Tutored throughout school year for all three academic years.
Lots of leadership with student organizations
Letters of recommendation are from engineering professors.
I was wondering about my chances at any of the top 20 schools. My focus is intellectual property.
What worries me is that my entire background is all in engineering and my LSAT score is low.
I would be applying to the joint degree program to those that offer an EE masters/JD if that changes anything.
Retake, get a 165, and the world is your oyster! That's an exaggeration. But you can definitely break into the top 20 if you raise your LSAT 5 points.
also, don't worry about the engineering thing holding you back.

UGPA: 3.48 ( I don't know how much of a difference this makes, but I have a strong upward grade trend with a 3.34 at community college and 3.8 at a t50 university.)
LSAT: 161
URM: Mexican-American
What do you think my chances are at Cornell, UCLA, and UT-Austin and USC?

With a 166, Out at both schools. Get a 170 and you'd probably get at least one waitlist and maybe an outright acceptance.

If you get a 161 I'd say WL/IN at LSU, Penn State, and Miami. You'd probably be out everywhere else unless you could bring that LSAT up to about 165, and at that point your UGPA would still make the cycle unpredictable.

Hello I'm applying this fall for 2011 acceptance
URM female
GPA 2.9
LSAT 160-165 (practice range)
high school teacher (worked at a low SES school and also at an international school)
Lived in South Korea for 3 years
learning Korean
Strong recs from former jobs (been out of school for nearly 4 year so getting academic rec will be difficult)
Schools I will be applying to:
UT Law (I'm a TX residence)
SMU
UH
U of Georgia
I'm also thinking about some others like: Tulane, American, William and Mary
I'll probably apply to others but have no idea what my stats will get me into. I'm pushing myself to get as close to 170 as a possibly can, but I'll have to wait and see.
Any thoughts on my chances? Thanks!

2 Master's degrees (state school and ivy league)
Lots of conference presentations
Lots of research work (state school and ivy league)
Lots of leadership
Couple publications as solo author
Interested in environmental law
Chances at:

UCLA (ED)
BC
GW
Colorado
U. Washington
Hastings
Tulane
Lewis & Clark
Vermont
Thanks!
If you retake the LSAT's and score a 165+, you can get into all those schools and get some money. Study hard over the summer and take the October exams. Otherwise, you only have Vermont, L&C, and maybe Tulane and Hastings.

I was a physics major undergrad. First two years I was far more concerned with partying than studying, ended up with a 2.0 my freshman and sophomore years. The next two I worked my butt off, eventually getting a 3.9 and 3.8 my senior year. Finished UG with 2.76
Add to this the fact I have a MS Mech Eng from a top 10 school, over all about 3.4 GPA.
I have been working in industry for 5 years as a researcher with several patents of my own. I have a 170 LSAT score.
I want to become a patent attorney
From my own research, it seems the only T14 i have a shot at is northwestern, possibly Cornell.
My preference,however, is West Coast:
What are my odds @:
UCLA
USC
UC Hasting
Boalt
Loyola LA
UC Davis
BU
BC
NW
Cornell
I would hope that the admission counselor would see that the actions of an 18,19 year old are no indication of what I am today...would my record mitigate my Freshman an Sophomore years enough for them to over look that...if not for those years I feel I'de have a great shot a quite a few top 10 schools....

The LSAT helps but the GPA is really pulling you down at a lot of places-good luck!

I just want to know what type of schools I could realistically get in with my information. I am aiming for top 20 but I know how difficult that is.
Attend UVA undergrad (not a virginia resident)
Varsity athlete
Accounting/marketing major
internship every summer
3.67 GPA
167 LSAT
White female
Also have the traditional softs like volunteering, sorority position, etc...

You'll have a chance at cornell and down. You may not break into cornell and georgetown. But you should get at least 2 from 16-20 range. But you need to think a lot more about where specifically you want to practice if you don't get into cornell and georgetown. Do not go to WUSTL if you have no interest in the surrounding area. This applies to any other school in this area.

I just received a 165 on the June LSAT and found out that LSAC dropped my GPA from a 2.9 to a 2.5
I have a major upward grade trend (retook my entire first semester for one, which LSAC counted)
I have 3 years work experience at diverse, yet not amazing positions. Will have professional recommendations (1 or 2)
I will be applying as early as possible and am banking on writing and re-writing personal statements and optional essays and just being persistent as hell (I got a personal letter from my registrar sent to LSAC arguing my GPA to no avail..haha)
I want to go to school in the SE, somewhere that doesn't have a lot of competition. My #1 goal = jobs
I really want to go to Wake Forest and know someone who can write a recommendation that was a board member. I will apply their new early decision. I am also thinking Tulane. I don't care about paying sticker (I am making less than 20k a year right now...it is only up from here, debt or not).
What do you think? Thanks!
EDIT-As for retaking the LSAT, I averaged a 169 on my PTs and hit a high of 174 (in the 170s about five times total). -4 on my LG really messed me up.

LSAC GPA: 3.56 June 2010: 159
Typical internships at Law firms/Investment Bank (finance major)
Participated in a student managed investment fund which invested a portion of my schools endowment fund (hope i didn't screw that up!)
-Would this be a slightly above average soft? Probably not...
National Honors Society in High School...jk
Plan on applying to....
UF
FSU
da U
Stetson
What do you think of my current chances? If i retake in October, what do you think i will need to secure UF or FSU or get money from UM?

167-168 will get you into the t14. If you don't mind paying sticker at cornell. Shoot higher though.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
