My impression is debt won't be in play here.Alan Grant wrote:I would retake and try to get into U Chicago with some scholarship money. No use in resigning yourself to sticker at Penn, UVA, GLUC, or any non HYS really. Indeed, if you don't think you can do better than a 164, what makes you think you will do well enough at any of these schools to get big law? And if you cannot get big law, you are presumably royally screwed. Yet even if you get big law, you are still looking at a mountain full of non-discharble debt and the possibility of losing the job before your debt is paid off. Yes, people do get laid off from big law, even competent people. But if you do get some scholarship money, maybe from Chicago, maybe from a lower t14 like Penn or UVA, you can mitigate both dangers, and put yourself in less danger of financial ruin. Big law will also be much more pleasant if your don't have 200K debt hanging over you.

It's very explicitly stated in the OP that cost is not a concern here.Alan Grant wrote:I would retake and try to get into U Chicago with some scholarship money. It's more of a wall of text.

Lol I absolutely knew this was coming, but a little surprised it didn't happen sooner. I've read through enough of TLS to know that if I posted about applying ED and/or applying with a score this low, J.R Smith's face would inevitably show up to tell me to retake. I think you know very well what the most prudent decision is. If you are going to ED with your poor LSAT score, then just do it and stop looking for advice here. Chicago>UVA>Georgetown. But, if you won't take the advice offered and retake, then you probably won't enjoy law school or being an attorney. We may be a bit frank here, but we mean well. And I promise that you would not regret studying a bit longer and retaking.dolastas wrote: So, if you must respond with a retake/dont ED response, just know that it will have no bearing on my decision (but I understand the logic and agree with it in general.)
Advice: retake>don't go>ED Chicago

Yes. Exactly. From the very beginning, I did know what you would all claim the most prudent decision was. And, in fact, I made every effort to get you to understand that I already knew. I just wasn't (and still am not, frankly) interested in having that discussion, yet an enormous amount of energy was wasted on the many attempts to pull me into one. But its fine, I did get the information I needed and all of you got to do what you love the most.FluffMonster wrote:

Also, there's a difference between a poor LSAT score and one that falls short of the standards set by TLS (a small group of hyper-obsessive 0L-3Ls, who really only represent the highest-achieving law school applicants and students.) 164 is admittedly not great, I'm not very proud of it, but it is still 90th percentile and thats at least "good" everywhere else but here.

The schools you're looking at are filled with the same people, so get used to it buddy.
