Re: 3.3 169 URM
Because the argument that URM applies only to AA/NA/MA relies at least in part on the categories IDed by the Supreme Court in Grutter (or one of the AA cases, anyway).james.bungles wrote:wtf are u talking about case lawruninthefront wrote:unless that links to some relevant case law im missingjames.bungles wrote:This is from the stickied "Am I a URM thread"
You need to be either a US citizen or a permanent resident to receive URM boost. International students are not considered a part of US population for AA purposes (or for tax or many other purposes, for that matter).
i unequivocally disagree

I really don't know - I've never looked for data on it and I think the LSN and TLS samples are so small it's hard to predict. I do think adcomms are concerned with racial/ethnic/regional diversity beyond the strict AA/NA/MA categories (at least, they were at my law school in a very very white city), but I don't know how far that goes or whether you can translate it into the equivalent of points on the LSAT/GPA.

I think, even assuming if you're above both of their 75ths, you'll be WLd wherever you ask this question just for being weird as hell and off-topicjames.bungles wrote:If they give me some generic answer about being holistic I'll tell them to cut the bullshitruninthefront wrote:lol "hey guys btw are you boosting international URMs too? Re: 3.3 169 URM
I had two scores and fudged by details a bit because TLS so that was actually my average. Secondly, I only indicated I was a URM international at one school and didn't get in. I was diverse but it wasn't based on being a URM for me. That's why I keep saying the process is flukey and unpredictable for international students of color, and have always said that to this poster in particular.canadianbrother wrote:Check out Danitt

Internationl urm who got into UVa with a 157
Edit: Danitt also had no GPA and the transcript was determined by LSAC to be "above average". Even if you say UVa was flukey, they were also at or below the 25th LSAT at some of those T1s.
ETA: You have a great LSAT score. You'll be fine. I feel like you're stressing out more than necessary and have been for like a year.

Mind sharing your highest LSAT? And what do you mean you only indicated at one school? Did you not check the box for black/aa?danitt wrote:I had two scores and fudged by details a bit because TLS so that was actually my average. Re: 3.3 169 URM
I had a low 160s score the second time around (bless!). Only one school had Black/Caribbean as one of the choices so I did pick that. For all schools I indicated that I was LGBT but up until I sent in my apps I went back on forth on checking that box because I felt like I didn't fit that AA reasoning not being raised in a society where I was a minority. I agonized about it a lot and ultimately didn't unless the school specifically included Caribbean in there.canadianbrother wrote:Mind sharing your highest LSAT? That actually makes your cycle even crazier but I guess that doesnt matter anymore, youre attending a great school.

TBH, I've never thought that I'm great model to follow for applications because I had crazy work experience and a seriously compelling background. So I wasn't really a typical/traditional candidate.canadianbrother wrote:That actually makes your cycle even crazier but I guess that doesnt matter anymore, youre attending a great school.

I'm really curious to know what your work experience background is now. High office in government or something? Politically active? Non-profit start-up owner?danitt wrote:TBH, I've never thought that I'm great model to follow for applications because I had crazy work experience and a seriously compelling background. wish I didn't have to bump such an old thread, but I'm wondering if anyone's received any updates to clarify the success of 3.3/169 URM cycles. My numbers aren't there yet, but I'm hoping to be close to that with a little retake love/ GPA boosting.

You might get a little traction over in the URM threads. Come on and share some more about your situation...180kickflip wrote:wish I didn't have to bump such an old thread, but I'm wondering if anyone's received any updates to clarify the success of 3.3/169 URM cycles.
