A lot of people go to law school with the intent of starting a firm, and it would be interesting to see empirical data of attorneys who have actually succeeded doing this from the past ten years. It seems the only attorneys who have succeeded in starting their own small firms initially worked at another firm, and were a cemented personality in their community. These things take time, and living in your parents' basement does not sell you well.
