If Vandy had that many 168-169's to spare, they would have sacrificed them to bump up their median GPA.

That's speculation, you don't know what their strategy is. Remember they make offers to many times more people, so they won't know they actually bumped the median until seat deposits are in. Meaning they don't know that they had that many spots to spare when offering admissions.im_blue wrote:r6_philly wrote:NO. The only thing you can infer is that 25% of the class is at 165 or below. Edit: the most effective way to create an artificial median is to set a floor and admit as many as possible at the floor (this case 169). Because creating mode at the number you want increase the chance of it being the median.

If this is one of your best friends and it would crush them (along with you) if you missed the wedding, I would strongly consider waiting a year and retaking in June.Jen Loblaw wrote:If I can't retake in December (my really good friend is getting married that day, and I already dropped way too much money on a bridesmaid dress), would it be useful at all to retake in February?
If this is not one of your closest friends and the option of waiting another year is not viable, I would reconsider going to the wedding. A few points means so incredibly much, especially for an applicant like you. Keep in mind how huge the job prospect differential is at the schools you are competitive at with a 166 and schools you would be competitive at with a 170.

You can retake in February, but it's weird. See my cycle for reference.Jen Loblaw wrote:If I can't retake in December (my really good friend is getting married that day, and I already dropped way too much money on a bridesmaid dress), would it be useful at all to retake in February?

Ahh I remember now I wanted to ask you why you retook because we were numbers twins... I guess it worked out great for you.theadw wrote:You can retake in February, but it's weird.
