how important is work experience to this all? Being employed for 35 or so hours a week since sophomore year I feel like it should be important, but I haven't heard anything confirming that at all

The admissions committee might take it into account if the person has a low GPA, I'd assume. I guess they figure that work might contribute to a lower GPA so they might be a little more flexible if someone worked a lot during college.

6 years post-grad work experience in mech engineering design consulting field, emphasis on "Green" & "Sustainable" building construction & design

Really? I'm kind of nervous that my GPA will ding me at GULC/GW... Do you think they'll cut me some slack based on the work experience?

Your GPA may well ding you at those places, but I think it's unlikely. Your work experience helps, but a 170 is awfully good for GULC PT. GW has a reputation for liking splitters, so that helps you out. As with all splitters, I'd advise casting a wide net and looking to more schools than the usual applicant. GW will probably also like your hard science background if you're interested in IP. The hard science major is another thing mitigating your GPA.

LSAT score is a 165. Strong letters of recommendation, good soft factors (Student Body President, president of multiple clubs, work about 20 hours per week).

What are my chances at the above schools, and are there any other schools I should be looking at?

Greygoose is right on target, but I don't think you'll get into NW even with significant work experience: they do like their LSATs......

Your list is a good one and I think you'll see a lot of good acceptances.

I was looking for one more school to apply to that would be a reach to super reach.

I landed on Iowa.

163/2.17
Full Time employment (in sales, if that's relevant) since end of freshman year
Several EC's...nothing special
Non-URM
3 good but not great LOR's
A good (biased) PS, probably just decent
Addendum for GPA (obviously)

75% LSAT, WAAAAY below 25% GPA...

So what does anyone think, is it worth an app fee on Iowa? Or am I completely off my rocker/batshit crazy/etc?

I would appreciate if anyone can point me to the (cheapest) best parttime school/s that I can get into based on the above criteria. While, retaking might be an option for most of you, I don't think I can consider that option.

Loyola-Chi and Mizzou are the only two that MIGHT take a chance. Being Native American is nice...it doesn't overcome a 149. Retake the LSAT, score 155 or higher and you are decent to all but NU, Chicago, WashU, and maybe Illinois.

LSAT= 172

According to that law school calc I'm sorta on the edge of in/out at most T10. Is that a reach?
