When you probably cannot even get into BYU with a hypothetical 7 point LSAT improvement, it's time to abandon ship and look at other options. That's not scholarship territory even in the TTT zone.
I was a urm splitter with a sub3 gpa and a 168 & I got t14 @ sticker + six figure scholarships throughout the first tier.
ive seen it happen for people over and over these past two years.

Re: Ridiculous URM 2.5/163 Splitter
Just to add another anecdote, I am sub 2.5, 167 (from 2010) aa female. Nontrad. Got 90k to t1 regional and, accepted at one t14 and wl at t20 and a t10. Late apps...early march, and these are the only schools to which I applied.
Subsequently withdrew from all to improve my score since I hadn't studied last time and figure I can do better. I also want to get my mind back on an academic track since it's been so long. I anticipate a better outcome this fall. I do have a very unique story and excellent writings to accompany. I know everyone says that, but something helped overcome that GPA, and I don't think my 167 was high enough to do it.
TL;dr My GPA is far crappier. Retake and get magic words together on your ps. You'll get in and hopefully get money.

You hit a 167 cold? No studying? Hmmmmmsunsheyen wrote:Just to add another anecdote, I am sub 2.5, 167 (from 2010) aa female. Nontrad. Got 90k to t1 regional and, accepted at one t14 and wl at t20 and a t10. Late apps...early march, and these are the only schools to which I applied.

Not completely cold. I took the test initially in Feb 2010 and got a 159. That one was taken corpse cold. I had totalled my car the day before and wasn't in a very good headspace so I registered for June when I got the score results. In the interim, I took a few practice tests (I got the first book in the "10 Actual" series from B&N), but no, nothing I would call study, although some might disagree. My mom gave me one of those shitbag Barron's LG books, but when I found errors in the fake questions, I trashed it. No formal texts, drilling, courses, or anything of that nature. I was very ignorant about the whole process. Needless to say, I'm taking it much more seriously now.johnnyquest wrote:You hit a 167 cold? No studying? It's not even just URMs. I was accepted to Texas with the first wave of ED admits, as an out-of-state applicant, with a 2.6/170. And they used to be pretty picky about GPAs; I really think that the admissions game has changed in the past cycle or two.ymmv wrote:K, will defer to experience then.
