That's a bit of a rough go at it, but I think timing is really important. I'd wait and reapply next cycle if I were you. Also, my PS talks about an interesting college working experience even though I'm over 2 years out. I just found ways to connect it to what I'm doing now and what I want to do going forward. Past experiences are definitely workable, you just have to create the link.
