It depends on the person, OP. See, in my case, I don't have designs on biglaw for the most part. At first I was thinking that I still have to go to T14 no matter what, but no one here will say that except a few people. The big thing is about minimizing risk. Right now I've got a good number of decent schools lined up that wouldn't leave me with a lot of debt, and I plan on practicing in a medium to small sized city. So in my case, a 166 isn't a horrible thing. If my goal was biglaw though, yes, retaking would be preferable.

You also have to remember, this is TOP law schools.com

This site is called "top law schools" for a reason. Top law schools want top scores.

I took two years ago and did alright- I scored mid 160's. But my GPA is better than that, the legal market sucks, and I'm already in a lot of debt from UG. Each point matters so much and the LSAT IS learnable- so yeah, retake anything under low 170's (at least) makes sense to people on "Top Law Schools."
