This cycle, there's a 178/3.83 who submitted early, interviewed in November, and still hasn't heard back, while a 170/3.76 non-URM got in straight out of undergrad with supposedly average softs. I only mention the latter to point out that the new interview makes Harvard a lot less predictable.
For what it's worth I got waitlisted last year with a 3.85 and a 175. At the time my soft factors were pretty below average and I applied late in the cycle, but did manage to get in this year (with fairly improved softs). So while a 3.85 173 certainly looks good in this cycle, with below average soft factors it is far from a lock.
