Just start your own thread, it's as simple as that! Good luck on maintaining your GPA -- many here would give an arm for your grades. Don't waste that GPA and study hard for the LSAT.bernaldiaz wrote:Holy shit I just wanted to know one little question haha next time I'll just use google!dpk711 wrote:Actually, everyone here assumed your 170/3.9 was real. Secondly, I only asked my question because the thread moved in the direction of discussing NU. Third, I didn't ask to be chancde at all and was obviously aware that I couldn't be chanced without an actual LSAT score, which is why I explicitly said as much. I didn't ask to be chanced, just wanted a teeny question answered about NU. Lastly, thanks for finally answering my question.

To be fair, M is about as hard to get into as DCNG anyway. But yeah, bernaldiaz, you should blanket the T-13 and leave out NU, unless you'd be willing to defer. NU sometimes admits people contingent on their taking a year off.bhan87 wrote:With a 3.98 / 3.9 and 170, you should be aiming higher than NU anyway. Re: would a 175 get you a spot in Columbia or NYU with a 2.9 GPA
It's probably better to think of schools in tiers than as hard numerical rankings. But a 175/2.9 is likely out at both. Much better shot at NU than at Cornell though. But worth applying to both. Maybe blanket T7-T14 leaving out Berkeley.bhosage wrote:What about Cornell? It's ranked 13th and Northwestern is ranked 12th. I feel like Cornell would have a hard gpa floor though considering it's Ivy.

Going to derail the thread here, but how about a 3.1 undergrad gpa? and a 3.4 gpa from a top 10 evening mba program? 6 years work experience with some pro se battles under my belt. Are they this big on undergrad gpa? seems alot more stringent than mba.

Make your own thread... and preferably after you get LSAT numbers (or at least use your cold diagnostic).

Is this the thread where we all just post our own hypotheticals?
I'd like to post my own hypothetical. Top 10% at NYU. Chances for S?

The only way those schools can happen with those numbers is by transferring. The good news is that a 175 can get you into a great school. I would target the lower T14, EDing to NU if you have WE, and top regionals where you want to practice. You'll be set up to graduate from a great school and if you really really want CCN you can try to transfer after L1.

No I had same numbers (3.88 and 170 average) with only one year out and i got in. apply early.bernaldiaz wrote:With NU's emphasis on WE, is it even worth applying there right out of UG? And this is why thread hijacking sucks. The OP has a 175/2.9, which is a ding at ED NU w/o WE.sonervous88 wrote:No I had same numbers (3.88 and 170 average) with only one year out and i got in. apply early.bernaldiaz wrote:With NU's emphasis on WE, is it even worth applying there right out of UG? you'll have a shot EDing at UVA or even possibly cornell or Northwestern. These people talking about gpa floors don't know what they are talking about

Not sure if we're even talking about this anymore, but fwiw, I got NU without ED, and my GPA is worse than OP's by a fair amount. I'd guess that my WE counts as "good."firemed wrote:good WE might not even need ED... from what I have heard.dpk711 wrote:No chance, ED to NU if you have WE.
Cornell told me to get lost. UVa and GULC waitlisted me and then rejected me. YMMV.

Re: would a 175 get you a spot in Columbia or NYU with a 2.9 GPA
No. UVa has a pretty strict 3.0 floor for EDing for non-URMs. The occasional sub 3.0 ED applicant slips in, but they usual have some combination of (1) having EDed the year before, (2) being a VA resident, (3) some other X factor between WE, LOR, PS, etc. But it's the exception not the rule.Brock2010 wrote:you'll have a shot EDing at UVA or even possibly cornell or Northwestern. On the other hand NU has no such GPA floor for 172+. There are plenty of examples of people with absolutely awful GPAs getting into NU ED. You simply can't find that at UVa and that is why people say there is a floor.

Why are you wasting peoples' time? I'm guessing from your posting history that you got into UVa with a sub 3.0 GPA. Like I said, exception not the rule. Either post up your details on LSN or here, or stop posting.Brock2010 wrote:Corwin wrote:No. EDIT: I see you did post your stats.
Like I said, your wasting everyones' time. I clearly stated in my previous post and it's conventional wisdom that floors don't apply to URMs.Brock2010 wrote:2.9

Didn't mean to flame you Brock, but if you convince a non-URM who has a sub 3.0 to ED to UVA instead of NU, you've done that person a real disservice.

URMs who offer themselves as examples for where a white person can get in should be banned.
