You WILL get rejected (waitlisted) if you apply RD, your ONLY shot is ED. Your GPA is just way to low. Everyone was trying to be very nice, but there it is straight up lol

ED somewhere else in the T14, perhaps Georgetown or Northwestern or Michigan.StateSchoolSplitter wrote:Right right, I get this.jt1341 wrote:You WILL get rejected (waitlisted) if you apply RD, your ONLY shot is ED. No. What the hell?StateSchoolSplitter wrote:Should I visit the school ASAP and try to schedule time with a Dean?
Step 1) Get your application in ED. Now. Do not wait, do not do anything else, do not worry.
Step 2) There is no other step.

No, I didn't know. UVA will be very difficult for you then. Not sure I understand your question, but a 173 is definately above median. The 171 will be close depending on where they set it, its not going to blow anyone away. Add in the lower score and, well, bad-news bears.StateSchoolSplitter wrote:I assume you know I am not a Virginia resident. Any more thoughts? I guess being OOS matters a lot here.

Re: 3.1/173 - UVa ED? Suggestions?
You're still almost assuredly in even despite OOS, especially if you get your app in before all the October test-takers do. Heck a 2.9/170 got in last cycle. Submit ED at UVa.
If you're really worried about it, submit now with your ED. And by now I mean now so that your contract arrives tomorrow. On the almost nonexistent chance you do get rejected this will allow you to submit ED at UMich because the 15 days will still be under UMich's deadline (November 1, iirc). On top of that you will have a possible chance to submit ED at GULC after Michigan if UMich returns your decision before GULC's deadline (December 15, iirc).
Long story short. Your UVa ED contract should be in the mail and you should be part of the class of 2014 before the month ends.

Thanks! If you had to give me a % at each school (ED), what would you give me? If you wouldn't mind including Cornell and Vanderbilt RD I'd be very appreciative.bk187 wrote:You're still almost assuredly in even despite OOS, especially if you get your app in before all the October test-takers do. Ballparking via LSN, right now via ED:
UVa - 99%
UMich - 20% (Would have been 80% in 2 years ago)
GULC - 50%

Does anyone know how non-splitters do with UVA ED? I'm looking at a 3.75/169 right now, and would love to go to UVA.

Being below both medians is a death sentence at pretty much every school, ED or not.RPK34 wrote:Does anyone know how non-splitters do with UVA ED? I'm looking at a 3.75/169 right now, and would love to go to UVA.

Most of the LSN people (2010 graph) are in-staters.bk187 wrote:Ballparking via LSN, right now via ED:

Any idea why GULC is lower than UVa?

It's roughly 50/50 residents and non-residents and it is clear that OOS'ers are not getting uniformly wl'ed or rejected. It is those below both medians that are getting waitlisted or rejected.StateSchoolSplitter wrote:Most of the LSN people (2010 graph) are in-staters.

UVa ED is a lot more formulaic than GULC. Also UVa is more forgiving of low GPA's than GULC is. I also erred more on the side of caution because it is hard to tell how much of a difference GULC ED is when it isn't as well known as UVa's.

Actually dont apply to UVA because if you were in one of my classes and asked questions like this i might kill myself. Why are you asking the same thing a million times? what is wrong with u! wow apply to UVA ED otherwise you probably wont get into a T14 except maybe Cornell. No u dont need to rush there and "talk to the dean" or hand turn it in. They dont care what you look like, just mail it in like everyone elseStateSchoolSplitter wrote:Should I visit CVille to hand deliver app and meet with admissions figures?bk187 wrote:It's roughly 50/50 residents and non-residents and it is clear that OOS'ers are not getting uniformly wl'ed or rejected. You could spend from now till eternity ranting at each of the neurotic posts/posters on TLS and you still wouldn't have responded to all of them.jt1341 wrote: Actually dont apply to UVA because if you were in one of my classes and asked questions like this i might kill myself. If you were in one of my classes, I know I'd wouldn't be at UVa, let alone a ranked school.jt1341 wrote:Actually dont apply to UVA because if you were in one of my classes and asked questions like this i might kill myself. Anyway, I got the idea from someone on LSN who had very, very similar #s and creds. He visited the city, turned in his app, did some stuff around town (it's too bad Buddhist shut down) and was called back into the dean's office later in the day to get admitted.

That guy is an anomaly, it isn't going to change anything considering just how formulaic UVa is about ED.StateSchoolSplitter wrote:Anyway, I got the idea from someone on LSN who had very, very similar #s and creds. Just out of curiousity, what's the formula? IN: at both medians or above at both or above med. LSAT and below GPA?bk187 wrote:That guy is an anomaly, it isn't going to change anything considering just how formulaic UVa is about ED.StateSchoolSplitter wrote:Anyway, I got the idea from someone on LSN who had very, very similar #s and creds. DINGED: below medium at both or median GPA and below median LSAT?

Re: 3.1/173 - UVa ED? Suggestions?
It's been pretty clear so far that 170+ or 3.85+ is in, though at a certain split this isn't necessarily secure. Probably sub-160 LSAT or sub-3 GPA starts to be uncertain.StateSchoolSplitter wrote:Just out of curiousity, what's the formula? IN: at both medians or above at both or above med. LSAT and below GPA?
