Of course not, father will see to that! Anyway I really meant something less polite, but was hoping that you had enough discretion not to make a further fool of yourself.

Give me a break. I shouldn't have to justify my not wanting to attend the other LSs in the T14.

my father attended HLS and gives them a lot of money. I'm not talking seven figures here, but a large sum.
not interested in going to Mich because it's just too fucking cold haha. I would brave the cold for Chicago, but not Mich. i would do Cornell over Michigan because it's smaller and I feel that if I went to Cornell I would be one of the top students.
UVA is in a suburb, granted a nice suburb, but a suburb nonetheless. I would only do Cornell if I didn't get into a T6. I really want to go to LS in a city.

Hahaha not intellectually serious? thats funny because i feel that Philosophy majors who dont have a 4.0 are not "intellectually serious."m3taphysician wrote:Why? what is to be expected?

Re: Chances at Top 7 + Cornell
On a more serious note, it is difficult for a junior in college to visit a law class or two at a Top 14 law school and make assumptions about the intellectual capacity of the law students. Many local non-lawyer law clerks for judges make the same quick, inaccurate judgments about attorneys--especially criminal defense attorneys--who appear before the court. Often the seeming unpreparedness of the defense attorney is not incompetence or due to lack of preparation, but it is a strategy to avoid getting into areas that are harmful to the lawyer's client. Negotiation seminars teach similiar strategies when the law & facts are not on your side. The first year of law school is much different than college.

WOW
next time just get out the tar and feathers.
Looking back at my posts, I realize that I definitely came off as pompous and disrespectful. I apologize if I hurt anyone's sensibilities.
Honestly, these are all great law schools. Michigan and Virginia are great schools for people who don't mind living in suburbs. One of my close friends attends UVA and loves it. In fact, he got into Columbia, but chose Virginia in the end. He didn't want to go to school in a city. I, personally, would really like to attend law school in a city, so these schools are not really options for me. The only school on my list that is not in a city is Cornell (and SLS)
Cornell is a great law school. I loved Cornell when I visited, but at least my friend's friends didn't seem to take law school very seriously. I admit, it was wrong for me to generalize about Cornell students. After all, I only spoke to about twelve or thirteen students. I enjoyed each class I attended at the school and the place is just beautiful.
Since it's apparent that I acted disrespectfully, and came off as pretentious, I would like to apologize once again to anyone I offended.

Honestly, I would not let being in a city color your school choice. i.e. I think it would be foolish to pick CLS over SLS, or GULC over UVa.

Living in a city is very important to me, though.

If you have numbers for HYS you don't really need to apply to anything other than the T6 plus maybe a safety in the lower T14, but if you get a 171 that won't necessarily be the case. If you really want a city then it seems like UPenn would be a fine choice outside of the T6 considering it is a peer to UMich and UVa.m3taphysician wrote:I would choose SLS over every school but HLS.

I am not sure if Northwestern is in the city but if it is can't beat Chicago. It is best city I have every been to. (been to NY, LA, San Fran, Seatle, and lived in Miami whole life) I don't think UC is directly in city, actually I think it is surburbs, but I am sure close enough to not make much of a difference.

Northwestern University's undergraduate campus is in the lakefront suburb of Evanston (the dining capital of the Northshore). Northwestern University's law & medical school are also lakefront (across the street from Lake Michigan) in Chicago's upscale shopping, dining, hotel & office area. The views from the NU law school are breathtaking.
The University of Chicago is in the Hyde Park area of Chicago which has some not-so-nice areas, although the campus is gorgeous.

Views? VIEWS????!?!??!!?!?
I envy people worrying about what kind of view they will have to choose out of their t14 picks.

Yea I can imagine it's got to be pretty amazing. If I had the numbers I would go to either UC or NW in a heart beat. Anyone who's got chance to go to a school of that caliber in city like Chicago would be making a big mistake to pass it up.

I would 100% apply to Northwestern law, but I heard they don't admit students right out of undergrad.
