Are you from the area? I'm trying to figure out what a good hotel might be... I'm also going to ask the school.

I am living in the area so I’ve never needed a hotel here but anything in Back Bay, Allston, Brighton, Brookline, or parts of Cambridge would work well. The Hilton Boston Back Bay, Hyatt Regency Cambridge, Hotel Commonwealth, Howard Johnson-Commonwealth Ave, Doubletree-Soldiers Field Rd, or Holiday Inn Boston–Brookline would work but I’m sure you could find something cheaper that is near BU. Happy to try to help if you have questions.

Thanks! I will have Saturday free, any suggestions of places to check out besides wandering randomly around the area? I wish I could go to that Thursday evening reception

Anyone coming from OOS? I emailed the contact about travel reimbursement, apparently they'll give up to $200 towards plane/train/etc. which would be awesome!

Here are a few touristy things to do.krad wrote:Thanks! I will have Saturday free, any suggestions of places to check out besides wandering randomly around the area? I wish I could go to that Thursday evening reception
Freedom Trail – 2.5 mile path marked by a red brick trail that runs through downtown Boston and passes lots of historical landmarks like the Bunker Hill Monument, Boston Common, the Old State House, Faneuil Hall, and the Granary Cemetery (home to Sam Adams and Paul Revere). It also goes through the North End which has good Italian food.
Museum of Fine Arts – Good collections and they just opened a new Art of the Americas Wing. Copley Place and the Prudential Center are nearby if you are into malls.
Back Bay – Lots of brownstones and The Boston Public Library. Fenway Park is between BU and Back Bay.
Charles River Trail – Walking/running trail that runs along both sides of the Charles and behind the law tower.
The T (mbta.com) - Services all of downtown Boston. BU is on the Green Line. The Red Line runs through the downtown in a northwest/southeast direction with stops at Harvard Square, MIT and South Station (downtown Boston).
You’ll find plenty of restaurants and bars in the area.

Just got an email offering me a travel stipend of $200. Will definitely be attending this ASW now. See you all there.
I'm coming from OOS but might be staying with a friend nearby who goes to BU for public health, not sure yet though.

I'm a 1L, so I'm also happy to answer any questions you guys have. And btw, I'm totally crashing this thing if I get a chance to give you guys the unscripted stuff. One thing I would absolutely recommend doing is stopping some current students and asking questions. See how they like it here. Find out what there is to do for fun, etc. I did this last year (wow, has it only been a year?) and the current students I talked to couldn't have been more helpful and enthusiastic about the place. In fact, it was the unscripted and constant enthusiasm and love for BU that truly sold me on the place.

I might go to that. It's between that or hitting the city night life with a friend I have living in Boston..I'm not sure which one will better serve my needs.

I am SO stoked! I'll also be missing the Thursday night reception due to flight arrangements but I'd love to hear how it goes from those of you who attend.krad wrote:Who excited for Friday?? If I go to the reception I can have a better understanding of whether the school is a good fit or not.tourdeforcex wrote:what are your needs?spacepenguin wrote:I might go to that. If I go out, I can see if I'll enjoy living in Boston for the next 3 years of my life.

Since you're already hitting the Preview Day activities, I'd go out if I were you! But then again, I've never spent time in Boston, so that's more of a priority for me...
