Hey guys - Anyone going to the USC Law Day or visiting anytime soon? What hotels/hostels are good options?

Does anybody know what the hourly schedule will be? I can't find it in any email, and USC's website is a pain to search. I emailed the admissions office too and no response after 2 days. :/

Yeah, I can't find it either. I think I remember seeing a schedule when you RSVP, but it's nowhere to be found now. Guess we just show up around 8:00am and figure it out from there.protokurios wrote:Does anybody know what the hourly schedule will be? Depends on how much you want to spend. Use Kayak.com to find the closest/cheapest options.Havaianas wrote:Hey guys - Anyone going to the USC Law Day or visiting anytime soon? What hotels/hostels are good options?

Yeah true I haven't seen an hourly schedule either... They also didn't specify dress code but when I called and asked they said business casual with comfy shoes and a coat. I have a feeling ill more likely be in the jeans I was planning on wearing.

Protokurious should be there. Guess SC is not a high priority for the type of people who post on TLS.Havaianas wrote:Thanks existenz. It looks like you and I are the only ones going to this little party

I'll be there after lunch...kind of sucks that they want only admitted students at the luncheon, no parents or spouses.

Re: USC Law Day 2010
So I just got back, kinda buzzed from the reception open bar. It was a very cool visit, lots of fun, students seemed very chill and upbeat. Mock class and the clinic presentations were cool. The visit actually has me thinking that USC is slightly above UCLA in my personal rankings. That said, I'm probably still leaning towards Michigan overall. But USC is definitely a good law school.

Sure! The campus is beautiful, the law building itself isn't the most beautiful but I found the complaints about the facility that I'd heard prior to visiting unfounded. The mock class with proffesor armour was great. Many of the sessions should be viewable on the admitted students site soon. All the students seem incredibly happy and like they generally feel like part of a community. Also - the deans are great. Went to the pilf talks too and it seems like a very well supported aspect of the school!afghan007 wrote:i wasn't able to make law day.. any more details about the campus/mock class/public interest/etc??

Re: USC Law Day 2010
The mock class with Prof. Armour was great. I'm starting to think that the faculties at all of the T18 are similarly capable. The biggest difference is the quality of students, and even that isn't huge.afghan007 wrote:i wasn't able to make law day.. any more details about the campus/mock class/public interest/etc??
The main USC campus is lovely, lots of trees, very stereotypical college campus. The law school itself wasn't as ugly as some have made it out to be, I thought it was a very nice building.
For the career services they brought in some alumni who work in public interest. One works in the public defender's office in LA, another works at some sort of legal aid clinic (?). The school has a ton of programs and clinics to get real world experience, and if you plan to practice in SoCal there are a lot of Trojans to make connections with. I also heard that USC is improving its LRAP to be even more generous.
I was particularly impressed by the IP clinic, the entertainment law offerings, and the enthusiasm of current students. They seemed happier than the UCLA students I met last month, but I'll be visiting UCLA again tomorrow.

Does anyone know if USC provides travel stipends for students to visit during ASW?

+1. I couldn't find any info on it, but then again I haven't asked anyone directly. I'll be going either way and visiting some other schools in SoCal.absolut86 wrote:Does anyone know if USC provides travel stipends for students to visit during ASW?
