How many ASDs are you attending?

Post by msbeautifulbasham » Fri Mar 12, 2010 9:35 pm

I'm curious, how many Admitted Student Days are you all attending? Also, how far are you traveling to visit the schools?

I went or am going to my top five, including a solo visit to one of them

Just 2. I would go to more if some schools (*cough* Columbia and NYU *cough*) paid for travel.

I originally only planned on one, but visiting the school completely changed my mind about where I wanted to attend for law school.

NYU will pay for travel. At first they told me that that they would only do it if I filled out a form demonstrating financial need. I never did that, but a couple of weeks ago they said that they would be willing to reimburse me if I showed receipts while I was there. I think funding is available if you ask for it.

Been to 1 already, have 2 more on the calendar, and will go to another if I get admitted before the event occurs.

One problem is that so many schools schedule them for the same day/weekend. March 26th has Duke, Texas, Michigan. April 9th has Vandy/Northwestern. Right now I'm considering a cross-country road trip to see my top five.

How the heck are you people finding the time for this? I can't go to ASWs when I'm working with limited vacation days as it is.

College senior with minimal requirements = lots of free time.

Yeah, wish I could go to more. 2 is all I can afford both financially and vacation-wise.

Been to 2 (though one was just a small program and not a full ASD), 2 on the calendar for next week. I work FT, so it's tough, but I'm trying to make it happen since visiting really does seem to make a difference.

3 full ASDs, outside shot at another mini-one. 800, 240, and 300 miles away, respectively.

1 ASD, but I have also scheduled tours of two schools outside of ASD. I am going to ASD for the lowest [USNWR] ranked school to see if I like it enough to pick it over a higher ranked law school.
