I am wearing business casual to both things... nice shoes, suit/dress pants, button down, no tie, no blazer
everyone should say what they are going to be wearing so we can find each other. I think I will have on black shoes, dark blue pants, and a blue with pink strips button down for one of the days at least.

On another note: Saturday evening, the law school has chartered a bus to take those staying in Columbus to Easton Town Center. Thoughts on the bars and restaurants?
edit: someone beat me to the punch.

Easton is about 10 minutes drive from campus... so no one from OSU goes to those bars... I would rather we all hit up campus or downtown bars, since that is where we would be going if we went to Mortiz next year...
also, easton gets really high-schooley at friday and saturday nights (not the bars obviously) since it is a big mall-type place

Also just received the confirmation email. I do not think I will be able to make the welcome reception on Friday but should be there in time for McFadden's...or is this just for the people attending the reception??

Re: THE Ohio State ASW get together thread
Easton is cool.
I'd take my grandma/ little sister there if they were visiting me. There are some good bars there but no where especially cheap/ it's not a bright idea to drive there and expect to drink and drive back. Hence, most OSU students don't go there to drink and you would not get a great vibe for the city. If you're taking a bus there then sure.
Also, Saturday is a gallery hop --LinkRemoved-- and the Arnold classic is in town so Short North/ Downtown will be very much alive and hopping. Also it is ten times closer to the law school than easton
Edit: I've been to Easton a total of ten times in 4+years of being in UG at OSU.

It might be fun to grab some cocktails, you know, take advantage of the bus and access to quality martinis. I imagine we'd return after 3-4 hours or so, perhaps 8 or 9ish; then we could hit up some bars and gallery hop. Sounds fun.chicoalto0649 wrote:Easton is cool.

To Rawlsian I think that's funny they're shipping you guys off to Easton...my friend came here for ASD for OSUs physics grad program and they did the same thing. OSU must have some agreement with easton or something

I love Columbus, but Easton is a good symbol of everything that's wrong with Columbus. Sprawling, suburban development out along the edges populated by affluent, pretentious assholes. There's too many unchecked expanses of shopping malls and apartment complexes in Columbus. In fact, if giant rocks were to fall on Easton, Polaris, and (most of) Dublin, I think I'd be okay with it.

Columbus is a manufactured city. It really isn't the biggest city in Ohio either, Cleveland and Cincinnati have far larger metropolitan areas, whereas Columbus has no metropolitan area. Coming from the south, you literally transistion from farmland to downtown in like 2 minutes. Columbus basically exists because it is the designated capital and that is where OSU is located.TipTravHoot wrote:I love Columbus, but Easton is a good symbol of everything that's wrong with Columbus. Also, Easton is cool if you are into really synthetic commercialism.

Yep. Whenever you cross 270, you immediately switch from city to BFE. Cleveland and Cincinnati both have a lot more soul.Notor wrote:Columbus is a manufactured city.
