Yes! Grew up in Texas, did UG in Chicago, and I'm headed back to SMU in the fall. Efff snow drifts. Give me my 98% humidity and 100 degree heat. I can turn the A/C on, but in the winter my feet are ALWAYS cold, regardless of how high I turn up the heat! I love flip flops and tank tops! I'm so stoked to go back.
On the subject of rednecks, I always thought I was some fancy, better-than-them liberal, but when I moved to Chicago, I realized there are trashy people everywhere, some just wear Sox jerseys instead of Rangers jerseys.
+1 to the people who said a place is what you make it. I was afraid I'd stick out like some crazy hillbilly up here (I use that term quite proudly, I, as stated above, hate shoes, love flip flops), but I have made tons of "Yankee friends"

who I will be friends with for the rest of my life... and I'm bringing my Yankee boyfriend back to Texas with me. We just embraced our differences instead of fought (and it was quite fun to bait the liberal girl who thought I was one of Rick Perry's advisers, and yelled at me for everything he did.)
People are people, and you're gonna find idiots, trash, awesome, fun, or any other type wherever you go. I always just felt the need to hate on Houston in a facetious way because I'm from Dallas, and each city seems to dislike the other. Just a fun rivalry.
