Is anyone traveling from California to attend the admitted student's day?

If so, can you please provide how you will be making the journey and suggest any recommendations to making the trip as affordable as possible. Thanks

I'm traveling from the west coast, although not from California specifically. I'd suggest flying into a larger airport and renting a car to drive to Iowa City. I made the mistake of buying a ticket to the closest airport (Cedar Rapids) and the reimbursement won't even cover half my spendy airfare.

Anyone else get the email regarding ASW? For those speculating about what the appropriate dress attire is, it mentions dress is "casual."

I wouldn't wear jeans, but I wouldn't wear a suit. Anything in between will work!

Honestly it's partly not wanting to look like a clown and partly a manifestation of my nerves. Either way as a girl, I enjoy the conversation.

agree with this! speaking for myself as a girl, the first thing I think of when looking forward to an event coming up is "omg what am I going to wear" which usually leads to me staring into my closet which suddenly has NOTHING in it.

Is it ridiculous? absolutely. Will I ever change this behavior? sadly, not. Glad there are some others here to neurotically obsess with me.

Darn it! The worst part about this for me is that my current Peace Corps project is on hold for the rest of the week--meaning if I had the money (and the administrative approval), I could totally make it. As it is, I don't have the nearly $3,000 for a plane ticket nor the month in advance notice to PC....

Hopefully some of you will actually get to go to that!!! I know it'd definitely be on my list of things to attend!

For Friday - are people thinking about heading somewhere immediately following the activities? Or would everyone be more interested in doing their own apartment hunting/touring/exploring for a few hours and meeting up later in the evening?

Well I know Robin and I have Apartment hunting after Friday's activities. Thursday night seems to be a good time to meet up.
