I believe that the same architectural firm did both Michigan's and UConn's law school (and I think they are also the ones behind the grant addition to Michigan's already impressive law school facilities).JoeMo wrote:I agree that UConn is beautiful. Re: Most beautiful law school?
You have a point. Modern doesn't necessarily mean better. The best schools are probably the ones that mix the old/classic with the modern edge. I do like the gothic style, but when I walk inside I want modern luxury...best of both worlds.JoeMo wrote:I disagree, I think the gothic architecture of schools like UConn, Yale, Michigan is prettier than the modern architecture of Berkeley, UW-Seattle and Vandy.PDaddy wrote:It's like the stadium and arena arms race, where the newer ones always get to one-up the older ones. Any school can have a beautiful law building, but the more recently built, the more appealing it is likely to be. Does anyone doubt that Berkeley, Stanford, Fordham, UW-Seattle, Duke, Vandy, and a few others will be at the top when this whole thing shakes out?
A better topic would be, "Which Law Schools Need New Facilities?" Now, that is worth discussing!

Cornell looks pretty sweet from the pictures I've seen. Wouldn't wanna be there in the winter though.

Re: Most beautiful law school?
nothing is beautiful when you dont see the sun for 8 months out of the year. Everything dies and turns to crap and then there is that gorge everyone throws themselves off. no debating ithaca during those 4 months cannot be beat. still... i had that experience in upstate ny for a couple of years and found it not so purdy especially around feb. Its not specifically about the weather. its about how everything looks terrible during the terrible weather.chimp wrote:beauty of school =/= weather bro

UConn is absolutely gorgeous, even though the whole campus is comprised of about 6 buildings. New law library is stunning.

For those who like your buildings not to be desperately posing as significantly older and more preftigious than they actually are, why not Chicago?

Woops, duh. You meant the law school's modern style, not other parts of campus.

If we're talking about just the law school, Pepperdine is nothing to write home about. The building is situated in the middle of a beautiful campus, but the law building itself is just "meh."
If we're talking about Pepperdine overall: the location/view is absolutely incredible, but (a) walking up and down hills gets old real fast, and (b) dry campus.

It is far off from the regular L&C campus, on its own, practically in the woods, bordering right up against a 600 acre forest. The main office building of the law school is 2 stories tall and the entire back side is a massive 2-story window that looks right into this wall of thick green forest.
The classrooms that I saw have high vaulted wood ceilings and lots of windows. The one thing I noticed about the whole school was that wherever you are, there's almost always a window, and out of every window you see this beautiful forest.
Also, they have this really cool amphitheater right in the center that faces into the forest, as well.
Maybe L&C should publish their own rankings like Cooley does, and use "natural beauty" as one of the largest factors.
Any pics of L&C?

While I like all the photos that are being put on the thread, I'd be interested to see some that aren't from a professional photographer (BU from the top floor noted). Some cell phone pictures, or if someone brought pictures from other threads from amateur photographers just to see the real atmosphere.
And as for Berkeley being the top school, I'm an UG right now who has to pass by the school everyday. It's above average, but hard to believe it's the most beautiful school in the nation.

While talking about Michigan/ UConn, I think the new ND law building is very similar in architecture and pretty dang nice too.
