Thanks!Emma. wrote:If you are hoping to be admitted: Business casual (+ umbrella, it isn't snowing here anymore)
If you are already admitted: Whatever you want, the school is now trying to impress you, not the other way around.
Edit: Just saw that you are on the WL... So go with something somewhat professional & maybe not the uggs?

I am from California and I will be visiting a school I am on the waitlist at soon and was wondering what i should wear. I was thinking about wearing dark jeans, uggs, a sweater and a down jacket(think hollister/a&f type). Would this be inappropriate?
I have read that jeans are fine and that boots and flats are preferred, but what about uggs? Too casual?
I thought that since it will be snowing they would assume I am trying to stay as warm as possible seeing as I weigh less than 90 lbs and have much insulation.
I am hoping to meet with professors, directors of programs I am interested in, and if lucky, the dean of admissions.
Thank you!
the bolded in your OP was a giveaway that you are a lady. no need to put it in your profile
Too late.

Men wearing uggs is would be even worse, except for the fact that I don't really care if guys look ugly or not.Peace of Mind wrote:mala2 wrote:guys in CA wears uggs?

And it's not sunny in Chicago. It's generally been extremely gray and dreary. One of the main reasons I should strongly consider going to school in California.

It will be 85-90 and sunny every day in Chicago this summer. And the MW has generally been warm and sunny lately. So yes, it is cold and dreary, but only for about half the year.ahduth wrote:And it's not sunny in Chicago. It's generally been extremely gray and dreary.

Really? It has been 70-80 for the past 5 days in St. Louis. It has even been mid 60s-mid 70s in Bloomington. Surprised it is crappy in Chicago.ahduth wrote:I was talking about... the next couple weeks. It is bona fide dreary outside my window.

You move here for the bars, restaurants, concerts, etc. Or school I suppose.

If and only if you have the body to pull it off, this is clearly the way to go: (Note the uggs).

You have to use all of your assets at your disposal. If you're properly equipped to make this work, I see no reason to miss out on an opportunity to actively demonstrate what you can bring to the student body.
