8 p.m. sounds good to me -- I'll be there all day Thursday gettin' my Segway on. I won't have a car, but I guess it'll be easy for the Doubletree folks to arrange transportation. Looking forward to meeting you guys!

I might be there. I'll be in by Thursday night in any case.catharsis wrote:ASD is just around the corner! amazing how quickly time flies.. so i spoke to someone that said UT gave out fajitas last year on Friday so incase they do it would probably be better to just do bbq.. here's what I've come up with in interest of just getting something together and planned. many people won't be coming in early on Thursday since not much was planned but it would be cool to still meet! completely open for revision if anyone wants!oh and sxsw finished up this week so Stubb's should be easier to get a table now.

Hey! Great choice catharsis! And the phrase "the site is full of win!" is incredible. Actually made me laugh out loud at work.
8pm sounds great and if people are looking for something to do in the meantime, we could put together a little tour of the Texas capitol if people are interested? Probably just the outside grounds but it would kill time and be easier to find.
I'm not sure where to suggest parking. I used to work down on 8th so we just walked over when we wanted to go. Any other austinites have any recommendations?

are there any happy hour drink specials at around 5-6pm? that could also be a good time-killer.

Depends what time you all get out. El Arroyo (downtown, 5th street near MoPac) has $1 margaritas from 2-5f0bolous wrote:are there any happy hour drink specials at around 5-6pm? that could also be a good time-killer.

Is anyone interested in splitting a hotel room for Thursday and Friday nights? I'm sane, clean-shaven and a non-smoker. I can pay cash money.

$5 mexican martinis at Sago in the Triangle (near 45th & Guadalupe) until 10. If you're downtown, the Ginger Man on 3rd has $1.50 beer from 6-6:30, and 219 West has a nice HH drinks & appetizer menu.f0bolous wrote:are there any happy hour drink specials at around 5-6pm? that could also be a good time-killer.

I believe that it's an event, not a group. As far as I know, there aren't any groups yet.flagirl wrote:It didn't workbigred82 wrote:Yes, I believe it is listed as UT ASD 2010.

My mistake. You are correct. It is an event. I do not know of a facebook group for UT's class of 2013.

Catharsis: I'm in for Stubbs, and add my girlfriend, a UT alum (though in Library Science). Our first date was at Stubbs to see the Old 97s! Awwwwwwwwwwww *barf*.
Doubletree gang: should we all meet up in the lobby at, say, 7:30? Or did this get planned already? I've been out of the loop traveling for work for a couple of days.

Re: Texas ASD 2010
So I'm a little late in the planning game, but I am really excited about visiting Austin.
I will be driving down from the Dallas area after work on Thursday and should be able to make it to Stubb's a little after 8, depending on traffic out of DFW.
Also, it looks like the Doubletree is not available this close. I couldn't book it online or on the phone, so I'm looking for another hotel option close by if anyone has any last minute suggestions!
I am only staying Thursday night and have to drive back after the events on Friday. If anyone else is driving down from DFW, let me know, because I would definitely be interested in car pooling to save some gas money!
