The plan as of right now is for that Thursday. We likely won't go out until around 10:30-11 so you should be fine!jcgolf88 wrote:I'm getting into Austin around 5 on Thursday and would love to hit up 6th street with everybody.

We could do somewhere either by the law school or we could do a dinner downtown and then just head to 6th after. Completely your call -I get Austin food all the time.catharsis wrote:11?!?!? boooooooooadrib wrote:you crazy youngsters. i'll be in bed by 11! i do want to do a TLS dinner, though--we still thinking about that?UTaylor526 wrote:The plan as of right now is for that Thursday. how does everyone feel about Tex-Mex? it would give the out-of-staters a glimpse into its gloriousness

Trudy's hands down. They have great food (get the Hondo burrito) and amazing drinks (Mexican Martini.) Plus, its fairly close to the law school!catharsis wrote:sounds great! should probably be before 6th but im down for whatever time everyone wants.

Tex-Mex is superior to all Mexican food, everyone knows that. Haha. Texas is much different than any other states' version, and soooo good.
But yes, we have amazing BBQ, anyone know a good place in Austin?

Re: Texas ASD 2010
alright so we have Tex-Mex or BBQ. im up for either one of those! i think it would be best to let UTaylor tell us which restaurant we should go to and follow his advice since he's a local haha.
so we have Trudy's for the Tex-Mex and which restaurant do you recommend for bbq?

Re: Texas ASD 2010
Sorry if this has been posted already - but does UT offer a travel stipend to people traveling from beyond a certain distance?
Edit: I'm also kind of surprised all the law schools placed their ASD's on passover. Really sucks for us Jews - my parents are PO'ed.

Re: Texas ASD 2010
UT did offer travel stipends but it wasn't just for the distance you had to travel. Some people who got scholarships did not get a stipend. I'm not sure how they decided to send them out but I'm fairly certain it wasn't completely based on the distance from where you live to Austin.

Either Stubbs or County Line. Stubbs is easier to get to.catharsis wrote:alright so we have Tex-Mex or BBQ. im up for either one of those! i think it would be best to let UTaylor tell us which restaurant we should go to and follow his advice since he's a local haha.

Good luck trying to eat at Stubbs during SXSW.
County Line is too far out. if you want to drive far out, go to the best BBQ in Texas, The Salt Lick.
I'd recommend Rudy's because its close and incredibly delish.

Doh! How could I forget Rudy's?! My mistake. Sorry, I'm not much of a BBQ person. I side with the TexMex.UTL_plz wrote:Good luck trying to eat at Stubbs during SXSW.

Re: Texas ASD 2010
ASD is just around the corner! amazing how quickly time flies.. so i spoke to someone that said UT gave out fajitas last year on Friday so incase they do it would probably be better to just do bbq.. here's what I've come up with in interest of just getting something together and planned. many people won't be coming in early on Thursday since not much was planned but it would be cool to still meet! completely open for revision if anyone wants!
oh and sxsw finished up this week so Stubb's should be easier to get a table now.

That looks like so much fun! Unfortunately, I won't get in until around 8 or 9 so I probably won't make it, but thanks for planning all this out, catharsis!

No, no! That's totally not necessary. If I can manage to get away from work any sooner, I might be able to come at the 7pm time. Please don't move it just for me; I'm going to feel awful!

I really really appreciate this. But I might even get in at 9pm; it all depends on when I can leave and how fast I can drive there so please don't schedule this around me! I'm going to feel terrible if you have to move it and I end up missing it.
I really appreciate this though. Seriously.
