Lateral Offer Timeline

Third-year lateral candidate, interviewed two months ago and still radio silence. I was an early applicant for the position. Is it reasonable to assume they already extended the offer to another candidate and are waiting for their response?

I think if you don't hear anything for 2 weeks it's basically dead, with rare exceptions. If they call and say "sorry for the delay" that's fine but total radio silence for months is dead.
