Clearly we are not quite as "special" and the group not quite as small as we were initially led to believe. Ah well. Right? I mean I don't mind as long as the people being added are behind us in the Special Group - if it's ranked (no offense newbies)nowinGA wrote:Clearly we are not quite as "special" and the group not quite as small as we were initially led to believe. It is ranked by "attractiveness" of the applicant-- not when the applicant was WLed

the people being added to the SPWL are not necessarily behind those of us placed on it earlier. recently, a guy got off of it a less than a week (or thereabouts) after he was placed on it.Shellbelle wrote:

Re: GULC 2010 WL'ers
And so it goes...
Good evening from Georgetown Law. I'm writing to you today to give you an update. As you are aware from earlier communications, our Committee on Admissions had identified you as one of our stronger applicants and placed you within a special group on our preferred waitlist.
At this time, we do not yet have openings in the class. However, our first deposit is due May 3, and we will have a much better idea of whether there will be any openings as we get closer to that date. As part of the select group, you are one of the people that the Committee would like to consider first if space opens up.
Most likely, you have already been in touch with Sophia Sim or Alison Spada, your primary contact. As the spring progresses, it would be helpful if you would continue to keep them up to date with the extent of your interest in attending Georgetown and any updates in your law school plans, including any upcoming deadlines. Alternatively, if you would like us to remove your application from consideration, I would appreciate your letting us know that as well.
Thank you again for your continued interest in Georgetown and for your patience with our process. We will be back in touch with you with an update by April 15th at the latest.

Re: GULC 2010 WL'ers
I mean, do you think they really want us to send more stuff and fight for this? Part of me feels like it would be a bit obnoxious to send another LOCI. I mean, they get it, right? I want to go there. And I write well.nesnejnes06 wrote:so they want me to write them ANOTHER loci? really? i feel kind of dicked around. and i don't think a handwritten note on my acceptance letter is going to help that.
Thoughts? I realize we are all competing against each other in a way...but I would love to hear what other people's plans are in terms of receiving this update. I am not sure I completely understand the LOCI process and if this update should be indicating to me that they want even more. I am not sure I still buy the "special group" thing anymore and don't want to sit here doing nothing and making assumptions based on my "priority" placement.

Re: GULC 2010 WL'ers
I feel like they should be conving me to attend instead of me convincing them to admit... I mean if I don't fit then reject. What's the point of dragging it out, I suppose they are keeping us for their own purposes (to fill the class later). If they want me, they can send me an acceptance and I will decide.

I buy that we are on the top tier of the waitlist, but I don't think it is a "small group".nowinGA wrote: I am not sure I still buy the "special group" thing anymore and don't want to sit here doing nothing and making assumptions based on my "priority" placement.

It's nice of them to indicate that our next update will come on a date that a TON of deposits are due...ugh. I guess it is best to just move forward as if the option as not there and then be surprised and change my plans if the opportunity arises...
