As soon as I'm accepted to Ohio State (fingers crossed), I will be visiting both and debating between the two. I've always wanted to go to Ohio State but there are so many things about Case that I find to be very attractive. With my scholarship at Case & instate tuition at OSU for 2L and 3L, it's gonna be a tough, tough decision.Nat1018 wrote:Sorry I know this is the Case thread...but is anyone else here debating between Case and Ohio State?

Good luck with OSU!! I hope you get in! Case gave me 22k but I havent heard about $$ from OSU yet. I hear OSU has a better reputation amongst law firms in OH,...I just don't know if they're going to give me much money.Kat.Ander wrote:As soon as I'm accepted to Ohio State (fingers crossed), I will be visiting both and debating between the two. Re: Case Western 2010
Thinking about money, I'm looking at the salary ranges of past graduates as well as what kind of debt I will have when I graduate. Even with 15/k a year from case, the ability to get instate tuition at OSU after living in the state for a year (only applies if you stay in Ohio for the summer after 1L) they come about to be about the same. The visits should make up my mind. But I can't visit until I hear back from OSU!Nat1018 wrote:Good luck with OSU!! I hope you get in! Case gave me 22k but I havent heard about $$ from OSU yet. Re: Case Western 2010
It depends on what you want and where between OSU and Case. I only applied to Case of the two, but that's because I would take it over OSU, based on stats. OSU's job prospects are pretty similar to Case. Salaries and number reporting are similar. OSU places a bit more in the NLJ250, but NLJ250 isn't the be-all and end-all of even what constitutes market-paying or big law. That being said, OSU is very strong in Ohio but not so much outside it. Case isn't as strong in Ohio, but has a much wider reach. The wider reach is what I like. Case puts a 1/4 of its classes into the Mid-Atlantic (DC), and 1/8 into PA and NY.
They are both superior to their rankings in many regards, and both employ over 80% of grads at graduation. That's a number that many 25-50 cannot match.

Thanks for the stats between the 2 schools. This was very helpful. Where did you get your info?

It's from the US News premium service (gotta pay $14.95, but...that's like one more LSDAS report). They break down all of the information at schools.Nat1018 wrote:84Sunbird2000 wrote:It depends on what you want and where between OSU and Case. Re: Case Western 2010
Just got the "Pending Further Review" status. What does this mean? Anybody else get this?
And it comes with an email stating that I am on hold until the end of April, and that I should fill out a continued interest form. Odd considering I have a well above median LSAT and a decent GPA.
Is this YP without the phone interview or did they just not like my application?

Mine arrived by e-mail about 30 minutes after the admission offer. For others it took a few hours or a day. Good luck!wxw30 wrote:hey fellas, just got admitted today via email. Just curious, did you get the scholar info in the admittance email or does that come in the mail soon?

Things might be slower this week because they are on spring break.
I was in committee review for a month.

In what fashion are people learning of scholarships?
Would it be in the original acceptance email?

I'm pretty sure that means you're waitlisted... but I would recommend the continued interest form!DeSilentio2728 wrote:Just got the "Pending Further Review" status. What does this mean? Anybody else get this?

The Admissions Committee has concluded its preliminary review of your application; however, it has not yet reached a final decision. At this time, your application has been placed on "Hold" postponing a final decision until late April. Please note that this is not a Wait List. We remain very interested in your candidacy to the law school and will continue to actively consider your application throughout the selection process.
Why would I wait till the end of April for a decision? This is beyond other schools deposit deadlines so it would be pretty difficult for me to justify filling out this form as I wouldn't even receive my financial aid package until the middle of May if I were accepted. I wish they would just WL me, verify my interest in the school via a phone interview, or flat out reject me. This polite WL crap is frustrating.

Just had my phone interview. I don't think it was awkward or weird as some people said it was. Mine actually went really well. The person interviewing me thought I was hilarious, haha. Does anyone know how long it has taken to get a decision after the interview? She said a week or two..

Re: Case Western 2010
My interview did seem kind of awkward yesterday. I think it was more that the interviewer just seemed like she was in a dour mood from the beginning. However, I don't think the interview went badly - I just devolved into logorrhea for a few brief moments.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
