Very excited. I actually got into SF yesterday. It was gorgeous today, sat out on a patio in the Castro and had margaritas :)

Can't wait for Friday!
Dude, margaritas?

I assume you'd prefer Tennessee whiskey? I'm a bourbon man myself. But the weather in Palo Alto is much more conducive to drinking margaritas than where I am now. I won't criticize.

Yeah, I don't love margaritas, but Cafe Flore in the Castro has some fantastic ones (and gay bartenders who make sure to treat you well.

Don't worry WG, we'll drink plenty of the good stuff during ASW and over the next 3 years.

Super stoked as well! I won't be getting in to Palo Alto until Saturday around 5pm, but I support shenanigans afterward!

Plans in Berkeley/SF on Friday night, and I probably won't be in any shape to make it down to Palo Alto afterward. Also, my Berkeley friend is visiting their engineering department on Saturday (he got in for a M.S.), so I figured it makes sense to travel down with him. Will try to make it earlier if I can!

Well, I know what BioE, Lysis and ConMan all look like, so I'm betting one of the two latter during minority preview...

Silly facebook.

Haha, ok Kretzy. Just keeping you honest. You do say on your profile that you're a "Football-watching, whiskey-drinking, country-singing homo."

The Dan, I'm not picky, but I do prefer Scotch whisky (ya ya, I know I misspelled this TLS account name). I think Jack and Coke on the rocks will be the way to still enjoy whiskeys in warm Palo Alto.

Also, is anyone else going to Roe in San Francisco on Friday night? Edit: I ask because I think the student groups hosting the dinners on Friday will continue the party at Roe for those interested in seeing SF at night. I received an invite from NALSA.

I love margaritas. I also love that booze is a recurring topic in the "In at Stanford!" thread.

That is all.

I'll be at Roe Friday night. Invite from SLLSA. Anyone been there before?

I'll be getting into Palo Alto friday evening and have a rental car if anyone else wants to go. Unless it's really a minority only thing (I'm disabled, I guess that might count for this)

I was there a few weeks ago. It's pretty damn fun. Upstairs = pop/hip hop, and downstairs = house/trance.

It is fun? The Yelp description kind of made me second-guess my "I'll go along with whatever everyone else is doing" attitude (that's a winner's attitude, btw).

Are most people going to Roe?

Also, amputatedbrain, disability does count as diversity for the purposes of the diversity preview. And I say (I'm sure everyone on here will agree) that we'd be pretty damn hypocritical to turn away fellow prospectives just because they don't belong to the "right" group. Plus you're a TLSer, which is diversity unto itself.

It would be nice if you could join. I have no idea whether Roe is open only to people who participate in minority preview day, but you could call admissions and ask if you may join.

I'll probably just play it by ear . . . didn't realize it was such a formal occasion. I totally understand if the minority students want to get to know the minority prospects without too much clutter from everyone else, so I'm not going to worry about it

Sure thing. FWIW, the dude Billy Blanks is right about students with disabilities being invited to minority preview day. The agenda reads "Asian Pacific Islander, Black, Native American, Latino, LGBT students and students with disabilities..."

How did people hear about going to Roe? The schedule only says "social event"...

Wow! Just turned in my independence test and remaining financial aid info yesterday, and already received my award letter today. I definitely was not expecting to hear back so quickly.
