I would definitely email them again and let them know that you haven't been contacted by your interviewer.smiley wrote:ok, i'm concerned . . . i got an interview request 11/19 and responded immediately. i still haven't heard from an alum. should i bug and send another email?

177/2.95, non-URM, FT RD, interview on 12/7, back up to UR on 12/8. Interview went very well, I thought. Hoping for some news soon. Unless they're sending rejects/waitlists soon, in which case I can wait.

Re: GULC 2010: Interviews
Asked to interview 12/1. Still waiting to hear from the alumn. What do you think the rule of thumb is before emailing Georgetown about it? I was thinking two weeks (so the 15th).
What were the interviews generally like?
Anyone know any stats on how those who got offered interviews tend to do admissions-wise?
*Edited to removed ambiguity.

Re: GULC 2010: Interviews
Can someone please explain the interviews? How do they choose people to interview (given that they accept folks outright)?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: GULC 2010: Interviews
My interview was short, 20-25 min. It was very relaxed, more like a chat. I think somewhere there's stats on interviews and decisions, but I can't find them anymore. If I remember correctly I think it was only something like 11% of people who are interviewed are rejected...but those might be stats for Harvard's JR1 haha, so don't take my word for it.xcountryjunkie wrote:Asked to interview 12/1. Re: GULC 2010: Interviews
someone posted them in the regular georgetown thread. it was 7% reject, and something like 39% preferred waitlist, 37% acceptances.PapantlaFlyer wrote:My interview was short, 20-25 min. Re: GULC 2010: Interviews
Mine was a phone interview, and the alum (who was a partner at a D.C. firm) was very friendly and informative. He explained that the interview process was generally for candidates who are "on the bubble" of admission. He asked me about my general career goals and how Georgetown fit into that plan. Most of the time he was answering my questions, of which there were only a few, but he went into great detail, and I really feel like I learned a lot. The whole thing took about half an hour.xcountryjunkie wrote:Asked to interview 12/1. Still waiting to hear from the alumn. What do you think the rule of thumb is before emailing Georgetown about it? Ditto on smiley's numbers, I remember reading that.

Re: GULC 2010: Interviews
Seems like they are picking borderline applicants. A few splitters in the bunch, but also a bunch who are simply below the medians while still being in that general range. Understandable, since they wouldn't want to waste anyone's time by interviewing auto-admits or rejects.

I like the 7% rejection figure. Though, I wish there were more admits and fewer preferred WL. Anyone know how frequently GU takes people off the preferred WL?

Re: GULC 2010: Interviews
My guess is that it's a pretty large number. A lot of the 170+/3.7+ admits probably enroll somewhere else, and I'm guessing there's a large number of those; so GULC needs to dig deep into their WL to fill their class, starting with the preferred WL. So it's not looking that bad for us...I hope.xcountryjunkie wrote:I like the 7% rejection figure. Though, I wish there were more admits and fewer preferred WL. Freddy- why on earth would you be "bummed" that they invited you to interview?? I know that you have some really solid numbers (okay, more than solid- I'd pretty much kill for your GPA), but it's not unheard of for Georgetown to reject and waitlist people with similar scores (http://gulc.lawschoolnumbers.com/applic ... ,8&type=jd)freddy knuckles wrote:i got an interview request today too.. 3.65/170

They interview applicants that they have a genuine interest in- don't be bummed, be flattered.

Re: GULC 2010: Interviews
Don’t be bummed about the interview. It’s not a bad thing. I interviewed and was later accepted. The alum that interviewed me was very nice and she asked really good questions. I do believe the school places weight on the interview. In my acceptance letter, the dean referenced my interview and the things he (assuming Andy is a he) heard about me from my interviewer. Best of luck and I’m sure you will be fine.Katerina wrote:Freddy- why on earth would you be "bummed" that they invited you to interview??
