U.C. Hastings Early Commitment

Post by OrcinusOrcas » Mon Dec 07, 2009 3:33 pm

Sent my app in during the first week of November and checked the binding Early Commitment box. Hastings is supposed to make the EC applicant decisions by 12/15.

Any other Hastings EC'ers out there hoping for good news in the next few weeks??

I applied early commitment as well. Based on LSN, we'll probably hear on December 14th... But hopefully sooner!

I applied EC to Hastings as well. 164 / 3.8 and out of school for 3 years working in banking.

I applied EC also. My numbers seem a bit low and borderline at best, but I'm hoping the admissions committee heavily weighs our willingness to pay sticker. I'll be checking this thread neurotically for the next few days. Good luck guys!

From past forums/LSN it looks like they send out e-mails (around 12/12-12/14) and snail mail (through 12/21). Hopefully soon!!

Going by this year's calendar, I'm betting we'll know 12/14. Otherwise, it could be 12/11 (Friday) if we're really lucky.

Ok guys...I've got a feeling today is the day.

"If you are accepted by December 15, you will have until January 15 to make your admission deposit..." doesn't say a thing about WHEN they have to get back to us by if we're NOT admitted, though. Based on LSN, I'm assuming that if I don't hear anything by the end of the day tomorrow this means I'm deferred to the normal pool or rejected, ugh. C'mon, Hastings, show some Cali love!

Nothing here. The mailman only brought a Baylor flyer and a New England Law viewbook  I guess I'll just keep refreshing my email... Anyone else heard anything?

Nothing yet on the e-mail front and it's now 2:16pm PST...if it happens today, I'm now thinking the e-mail will probably be around 5pm/end of the work day. Good god this is a little like when I was waiting for my LSAT score to be e-mailed to me...driving me nuts since I know it's coming soon!!!

Don't worry, man. If you read the complete email carefully, you'll find out that they didn't review the files until early Dec. So It may take some time for them to review your files thoroughly. I am a RDer. So just relax and wait for a while.

Well, the fact that they have an early commitment process suggests that they do intend to make at least SOME offers before Dec 15, which is tomorrow. It's hard not to be anxious.

I understand. I am EDer of UCLA and hear nothing yet. I think I will get a direct ding. But distress doesn't help. All I can do is to wait, especially I am int'l applicant.
Hastings is a nice school, I do hope I can hear from it soon. Is Hastings a far reach for you?

Just called the admissions office. Early Commitment applicants are going to be emailed in the next hour (it's currently 6PM EST). I was also told that ALL EC applicants will be sent an email, even if they are deferred into the regular pool and not offered admission.

First, very impressive. Congratulations. If UCLA is no go for me, I most likely will end up being your classmate if I can get in of course.

FML.

"We received more intriguing Early Commitment Option applicants than we are prepared to accept at this time".

"We intend to review your application again when we have a better sense of our application pool, and anticipate having a decision for you not later than March 15th."

Tier 2, here I come. FML x 1,000,000
