is this different from stafford loans?
this site covers all federal loans and you can fill out the MPN for the stafford on it.
Were you able to actually apply for the Stafford/Grad PLUS loans? I was able to fill out the MPNs but thus far... no loan application.
Uh oh...I thought all you had to do was fill out the mpn and they send that to columbia. Can someone confirm that there is/isnt another step? I'd call columbia but I'm currently on a train in europe...

So apparently there is another step, but per an email from Columbia that came today, they'll email us when the loan application is ready. They are still transitioning, so we should all just cool it for a while. :)

In case anyone is interested-- you can now rent President Obama's college apartment (from his undergrad days at Columbia).

2Br/1BA on west 109th street... for only $1900

not bad :P

Can anyone give me Dean Bollinger and Dean Iwerebon's email?

I am a current reserve candidate looking to send an LOCI. Yes, I know Dean Bollinger has little to do with the application process before everyone says it.

Thank you,

Hopeful.

My mom wanted to come help, but I squashed that quick. She would just embarrass me and not provide much actual help. If your parents will actually be helpful, I see nothing wrong with having them help you move in. Just make sure they don't stay until 9pm or something helping you get settled. I am sure your roommate wouldn't love that so much. ha...

I got a letter from columbia in the mail yesterday. Was super excited that I finally got my loan information. Turns out it was a letter from the bookstore which included info about reserving books online (we can't b/c we dont have schedules yet), a dorm-room checklist for columbia college, and an application to apply for a citi bank checking account...

damnit columbia, where is my loan info?

Just spoke with Columbia Fin Aid. I was told that the delay in getting a response about the Grad Plus loans is due to the Federal Government having a backlog with the new system. There is no definite time frame on when we should expect the response. The person I spoke with did say that Columbia is aware of how late this information is getting to us and they will work with people. They also said that we aren't actually billed until after we get there and the payments won't be due until Mid-September. So, I think we can all rest a little easier now, at least I am. :)

Ha! I AM a "grown-up" and I've wrangled my dad into helping me move in. That's what family is for!

I'm moving in the 9th. Is that early compared to most other people?

Also, was anyone else here able to contact UAH and postpone their first month’s payment until loans arrive? With that being said, is anyone worried that loans won’t arrive by the time the first month’s rent is due?

log-in, then "e-mail forwarding"
thanks Tofu!
Does anyone know how to set up forwarding for our firstname.lastname@law.columbia.edu addresses? I use Gmail and forwarding works fine from the UNI@columbia.edu account but doesn't seem to work from the first.lastname one. Anyone else having this issue or know how to set up forwarding? Thanks.
