Please Help!! Question: So we need to respond to scholarships before April 15th when the 1st deposit is due? If I confirm I want the scholarship but then don't end up attending, what happens? :?:

My problem is the other 3 months of the year. I fully intend on working my hardest to find a job over the summer, but still... I can't count on some unknown/ not guaranteed income to supplement the loans from their 9 month Col estimate. So, I have to divide by 12 months instead of 9 which makes it tight.

Fair enough. Here's to hoping the economy rebounds.

+1 Hoping, praying, fingers crossed. We've got a year+ before that time.

Just got an email indicating that my acceptance letter is in the mail. Does anyone know if aid or scholarship information comes with acceptance? Or if not, how much later?

Thanks.

I went DR today, but no e-mail, and it says on the status checker that they don't do decisions over e-mail. Has anyone else gotten one?

I got a status checker: Decision Made

The date is 3/14/2010. Haven't heard hide nor hare from them since before that requesting an LSAT retake improvement addendum. My score went up from 162 to 168, so I'm hoping it's not YP. I'd like to get in at one of my safeties.

So.... about a week ago my status checker went to "decision made". I received no email stating that my acceptance letter was on the way but since the status checker changed I have received two emails one of which discussing the admitted students bulletin board. I take this to mean I have been accepted, and honestly I would be surprised if I wasn't. My question is this: does scholly info come with the initial acceptance letter?

I imagine you're in, plus I'd bet they'll throw you some money.

Scholarship offers will follow the acceptance. Mine did anyway, by one day, but I don't think that was anything but happenstance.

I am waiting for my financial aid packet, which I assume (without grounds, I admit) I will get this week. If not, I will call and find out what I am getting. If nothing, I will try. I have no money elsewhere, just acceptances at Iowa and Lewis and Clark and a lot of desperation. Sending in my health law fellowship app this week (they extended the deadline for all of us until end of March, yay!) so that might get me a few more grand.

You?

I tried negotiating the scholly and the wouldn't budge. Then when I asked about the need based grant they informed me about the whole 10K max thing, so I only got 5K in grants because I already got 5K in scholly

Is the deadline extended for all the scholarships?

No, just the health law fellowship.

What leverage did you have in your negotiations? And what was your EFC on your FAFSA? I'm hoping to negotiate a bit more out of 'em, but we'll see what I can do. I already have a pretty generous scholarship that brings tuition into in-state range (if I were to look at CU, for example), so I can't scoff at that.

When they offered me 5K, I tried to use DePaul's 15K offer as leverage. Loyola cited the fact that their GPA requirements are more lenient, which really does make a difference so I can't be mad at them. My EFC was zero.

Yeah. Well, guess I'm screwed. All I have got is an acceptance at Iowa. Which has better job placement stats that does LUC, but the economy certainly tanked those.

I never got an official acceptance, but today I got an email reminding me about the deposit deadlines. Status checker says decision was made 3/15. I'm glad I got accepted, but please let me know that before you ask me for money!

In today via e-mail. It's my first acceptance (actually, it's my first decision period). No word about scholly yet.

Congrats! I know with that score from the Feb retake you will probably start pwning the hell out of this cycle soon.

I'm very paranoid that I didn't get in, now. Did anyone get in who didn't receive an e-mail notice of such?

I got an email today that started "Dear Loyola Chicago JD New Student" and gave me information about paying for my deposit, as well as a username and password for the admitted students page. I'm taking that as an acceptance, even though the admitted students username and password are very generic.

Loyola Chicago is my first acceptance, and I'm very excited about it! I'll be putting Butler out early in my brackets to get into the Horizon League rivalry spirit.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
