http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... &start=150 last years thread, and the fact that ppl call and those who have "admitted scholar" also have been told they will get some $$.
an aside: we kick last year's thread's ass. i wonder if it is the economy that is driving us more OCD or is c/o 2013 just a gunnerish type group?
I'm sure there's a bit of everything. I know for me, I'm just really excited. I was supposed to start law school last year (part-time while working full-time up in DC), but my dad was diagnosed with terminal cancer, so I deferred and moved home to spend time with him and help him out. I'm really glad I did, as I had almost 4 wonderful months with him before he passed. It made me realize how much I love NC and want to stay here, so I applied to Wake & UNC.
Sorry to hear about your dad, IMHO you did the right thing deferring.
I like all the excitement Wake Forest is generating here.
Thanks. It was a hard time for all of us, but I'm glad we were able to spend it together.
I like that we're all excited about potentially going to Wake. It'll make next year great, and I look forward to hopefully getting to know all of you.

Me too, so hopefully this doesn't mean we'll be left without scholarships...cause lord knows I won't be able to pay for Wake Forest otherwise!

is that total (all 3 years) or per year?
i would guess the former, but...
Those numbers are always per year, just like tuition is per year.

They seem to be pretty generous with the scholarships.

Hey all! So my status checker changed from Congratulations to "Admitted Scholar" as well.
Current Status: Application Complete
Current Status Date: 12/17/2009
Decision Status: Admitted Scholar
Decision Status Date: 1/8/2010
I didn't think I was scholarship material for Wake (and I still really don't so I'm not going to get my hopes up). BUT, a scholly would sure help! I'm currently deciding between UGA and Wake right now but still waiting on Carolina - like most people.

Assuming I ever get out of the "held" phase for UGA, we'll be in the exact same position. Do you mind posting your numbers?

So far, four of us have posted about not getting the "admitted scholar" update. Out of those four, three of us have LSAT above 75% (167-170) and GPA below 25% (3.0-3.1). Hmmm.

This was my understanding as well, and one of the reasons Wake is up there on my list ... they've been on the "Best Buy" list for law schools a few times I think because of how much aid they are generally able to give. However, when I spoke with Ms. Nutt back in October during my visit she basically told me that I would get in (based on my numbers), but she was uncertain how much $$$ they'd be able to offer me.

Hopefully this just means they gave $$$ to the auto admits first and will do another round of $$ soon for us splitters and those at both medians.

Maybe they make sweet offers to the 164-166 group because they feel like that group is likely to commit, particularly if there is money on the table. I am part of that group, and, if they think I am likely to commit if offered a nice scholarship, they are correct.

Sucks what 2 or 3 questions on the LSAT means. 2 more points and you'd be an admitted scholar, 2 more points and I wouldn't have been waitlisted at Vanderbilt. And a two question difference between us actually means nothing about the real world. I hate this test.

I received the Admitted Scholar thing today too so I went ahead and called to ask about it - the person I spoke to said that those people should be receiving a letter about ASD in the next week or so - and that they make scholarship decisions at that time, once they gauge peoples' interest in the school. He also said that travel stipends were primarily need-based, so I got the impression that they don't give too many out.
Not sure what to think about this - I'd honestly be more likely to visit once I knew what kind of scholarship offer I'd receive... but he (can't remember who I spoke to) made it sound like they want to see if you show up to their ASD before they give out merit awards.

That goes against what someone else was told, I hope you are wrong, but I have heard of people getting scholarship offers at ASD (not Wake in particular, just at ASD).

I called yesterday and this is not what I was told. If you have the admitted scholar status, I would expect a scholarship offer before this weekend.

When I called yesterday, I was extremely straight-forward. I was given a clear response. I am expecting an e-mail this week.

I have GPA slightly below 25th and LSAT just 1 point under 75th, and mine says "admitted scholar".

That's silly.
Not everyone can go to ASD, no matter how much they may want to.
But I think most people get their acceptances along with $$ offers, pick their top few schools and then go visit.
If WF were to only give $$ at ASD, then they would lost out on a lot of people.

I totally agree, that's super weird. I'll certainly report back once I get the letter from them. But that's what the guy told me (although again, I didn't get his name, so I don't know who I was speaking to or his position).

I remember last year some people reported they were given summer semester abroad in europe for free, on top of a 2/3 or full schollies.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
