Re: Wake Forest 2010
Congrats to everyone who received scholarships today. Hopefully many of you will decide to join those of us who already plan to attend.
A little over 4 months until orientation...seems so close, yet so far away at the same time.

Re: Wake Forest 2010
I'm glad to hear they'll be reallocating, but I am concerned that they seem to be giving $$ exclusively to reverse-splitters. I'm a 3.22/167 non-URM, so if they no longer need/want to bump up their LSAT median, I'll probably be out of luck. Either way, I'm going to send them an email to try to negotiate my way into an offer -- these 22k offers are something that peer schools (and slightly above) haven't been offering someone like me, so if Wake did it'd be an auto-win for them, as I'd otherwise resort to riding out some pending decisions & wait-lists at 2 schools. Worst Wake can do is say no, and, like you, I will (with a bit of sadness) move on...dhatfie1 wrote:I called and Jenny said that since the deadline is Monday for the people who received schollys today, if there are people who don't take the money they would be reallocating around a week after. So it's essentially a trickle down effect. Take that as you will but for me personally, I've had enough of being the horse chasing the carrot. Good luck to everyone else!!

She told me if I didn't hear today I would not hear about scholarships for a long time. She also told me she has not received my FAFSA even though I added it to my FAFSA school list two months ago.dhatfie1 wrote:I called and Jenny said that since the deadline is Monday for the people who received schollys today, if there are people who don't take the money they would be reallocating around a week after. Upset about no scholly either MO.
Makes me decision, as you know, to GMU (in state $$) to Wake sticker much harder now.
And, for the person who said they are giving to it to reverse splitters is untrue. (4.0/162 here). I was told that they "usually base scholarships off lsat scores" or something along those lines.
Congrats everyone!

Wow, I guess you're right...surprised you didn't see anything with a 4.0. In any event, you should feel good about GMU in-state.captainpete wrote: And, for the person who said they are giving to it to reverse splitters is untrue. (4.0/162 here). I am not a reverse splitter and I got $22,500 per year. My numbers are both just at/below the 75 and I am a non-URM so I wouldn't generalize too much buy saying money only went to reverse splitters.DoktorZaius wrote:I'm glad to hear they'll be reallocating, but I am concerned that they seem to be giving $$ exclusively to reverse-splitters. Noted as above, but yeah, I definitely didn't mean to imply reverse-splitters to the exclusion of ppl just at/below both 75th's.gogo wrote:DoktorZaius wrote: I am not a reverse splitter and I got $22,500 per year. Got an email for $28,000 per year. Before this I was 95% committed to UNC. I will call Chapel Hill tomorrow and unless they are willing to match or give me something, I'll be in Winston-Salem this Fall!

No scholarship offer for me - 3.67 / 167.
Obviously they don't want me that much, and to be quite honest, while I like Wake, I don't want them that much either. I'll be going to BU in the fall.

I was also told that almost all scholarships are based off LSAT scores, with people needing a score at or above their medium to be considered.

FWIW: Wake is having an open house on Monday the 12th for people who are on the fence/never got a chance to tour. I'd written them off until the $$$ email, so I'm grateful for this last-minute-look opportunity.

So, What do we know about accepting the award? How binding is it, etc?

Re: Wake Forest 2010
Just got an e-mail from admissions; $25k/yr. Assuming this wasn't sent in error, it seems additional awards may still be forthcoming...

Re: Wake Forest 2010
I'm torn. I know my LSAT wasn't representative of my ability (it was lower than my diagnostic!) and if I do score at my ability I will be in prime scholarship range for Wake. I LOVED the school and would like to attend, but I was planning on deferring a year anyways and I just can't stomach paying sticker when I know I could earn some money.
Do you think they would hold it against me if I withdrew and applied again next year? Hopefully earlier and with a better LSAT score.

Thanks!!! I'm tempering my excitement for the next 20 minutes or so (as a recipient of the $30k/yr mistake award last month, I don't want to get too excited), but am hopeful that this is for real!!
For any traditional splitters out there who were waiting for scholarship info, maybe they're getting to us today (I'm a 175/3.0 FYI)!!

Just call them and ask if its for real. I'm sure they'd tell you right away.

Re: Wake Forest 2010
Keep in mind there is no guarantee about doing well the next time, or being re-accecpted, and you would be a year behind in your legal career then you would have been. Its a tough decision either way. But personally I want to be through LS as quickly as possible so I can start my career.akili wrote:I'm torn. Bummer to hear about those of you that haven't received any scholarship offers, but at least you have acceptances. Wake seems to enjoy holding my app for whatever reason. *sigh*
Anyone else still waiting for a decision?

Got the "Greetings from Wake Forest" email this morning reminding me either to withdraw or send in my deposit. Thanks.

Haven't received any notification from them, but called the admission office and was informed that I've been placed on hold. She told me they expect to issue more acceptances after the 15th.

Re: Wake Forest 2010
Received it as well, and promptly sent one back withdrawing. No $$ means I have no justification to go. 69k at USD in a market I'll most likely be happier to be stuck in. Hope it opens up a nice warm spot for somebody. Cheers.dhatfie1 wrote:Got the "Greetings from Wake Forest" email this morning reminding me either to withdraw or send in my deposit. Thanks.
