Whats your numbers like, if you don't mind me asking? I guess I haven't heard back since I only went complete/"in review" about a month and a week ago. I'm hoping for a good response and seeing others be successful on getting off the waiting list makes me hopeful. Maybe there are no more real spots left and we are just late in getting our waitlist emails? I'm a splitter, urm, but not from WI so I don't know what will happen.tdubsWI wrote:Congrats to everyone that got in today! I am completely perplexed at how admissions work though...waitlisters getting in before a lot of us have heard back?
I called admissions just to make sure they didn't forget about me (9.5 weeks of in review). I didn't get told "soon", but I was told "hopefully by the end of the month."
I REALLY want to know what my options are before deposits are due...

Re: Wisconsin 2010 Application Cycle
I'll still be visiting W&L, but I did send a letter of commitment to Wisconsin. W&L is a clear second now, so unless something crazy happens I will be going to Wisconsin. Plus I didn't get much aid from W&L so I'm not heartbroken. I will still be attending the W&L open house though, since I already payed to go. Will be sporting my Badger hoodie for sure.Jaggles wrote:Congrats! Does this end your W&L thoughts?Panther7 wrote:IN off the waitlist!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Wisconsin 2010 Application Cycle
I had sent a letter in with my original application that stated I would attend if accepted.BigFatPanda wrote:Good for you! What did u do to get off the waitlist?Panther7 wrote:IN off the waitlist!!!!!!!!!!

When I was emailed my waitlist I responded with a short email stating I still wanted to attend and would follow it up with a letter later.
I sent a letter about a week and a half later explaining that I would be willing to turn down scholarships at other schools (including W&L) to attend Wisconsin, but that my deadline for my deposit there was April 15th.
I don't think it's so much what I did, but the fact that I'm an LSAT splitter and in state. They probably waitlisted me and then accepted me once they had a better idea of what they needed to fill out their class. But either way I'm very excited! There is also a lot of relief knowing what city I will be moving to, and the fact I can withdraw from some of the safety schools. Be able to go through a day without spying on the mailman or spamming refresh on my email will be nice.

I should look at flights. I will need to meet with Dean Hall soon, though. I need to make a trip there to woo him and get back in his graces. I can be very charming

I am 162/3.5, right about the median from past years so I understand if I get waitlisted or even rejected, but at this point I just want to hear SOMETHING so I can make a decision before deposit time.Texasboundanddown wrote:Whats your numbers like, if you don't mind me asking? In addition to Panther7's most helpful information, i think my experience could also be helpful:
When i applied, i knew given my credentials (out of state and low GPA), the most likely outcome would be a waitlist. So i spend sometime researching the University and its tradition. Base on my research into their academic programs, i wrote a personal statement about an experience in my life that motivated me to study law and how Wisconsin provides me the best opportunity for said study. Further, i inserted a paragraph at the end of this statement about this traditional feud between Engineers and Law students at Wisconsin and how i could bridge the difference between the two group with a little bit of humour about my willingness to shield other law students from Engineers and their rotten eggs.
I strongly believe that i wasn't waitlisted because i was successful in demonstrating to Wisconsin about being genuinely interested in becoming a part of their student body. I hope my experience helps someone to get off the waitlist, especially for those who are interested but couldn't afford to travel to Wisconsin.

I find it strange that they are admitting people off the WL before the finish giving out decisions. wisconsin definitely beats to their own drum.

Waitlisted today. I'll do a little more research and decide if Wisconsin is really somewhere I would go if I where admitted off the waitlist. Good luck to everyone still waiting.

Good luck, traehekat. I'd say you'd have a great chance of getting in if you really wanted to go there. Darn Wisconsin and its YPs.traehekat wrote:Waitlisted today. If I haven't heard anything yet should I just assume I've been WL/rejected and get the LOCI ready? What ya guys thing? A preemptive letter is in store? It seems like there aren't many seats left so I am just preparing myself mentally.

That depends on your numbers. There aren't a ton of seats, but if your numbers are competitive, you will likely be in the running for them. If you want to share, we could probably give you a better idea.Texasboundanddown wrote:If I haven't heard anything yet should I just assume I've been WL/rejected and get the LOCI ready? Alright, I got a 166/2.7 and I'm a URM from a t5 undergrad. Out of state. I think maybe the out of state-ness is hurting me but I really don't know. I thought I would have heard something by now but I still haven't. I've only been "in review" for about a month and a week. What ya think?JCougar wrote:That depends on your numbers. Wow. I'd say you're definitely in. Wisconsin is usually pretty kind to URMs, and that LSAT score is awesome in and of itself.Texasboundanddown wrote:Alright, I got a 166/2.7 and I'm a URM from a t5 undergrad. Out of state. Nevertheless, Wisconsin seems to be in full yield-protect mode right now, so everyone that is not auto-admit will probably end up being waitlisted until they write a LOCI.

Re: Wisconsin 2010 Application Cycle
I just finished my LOCI (did part of it at work lol) and am just sitting on it/waiting for when I should send it to them. The only problem with sending it early is that it could get lost/not really considered when they go back to look at waitlisters later on. Or it could give me a boost now. So many strategies! hahahJCougar wrote:Wow. I'd say you're definitely in. I just wanted to let all of you who are waitlisted know that UW plans on accepting about 80-100 people off the wait list. As of currently the wait list is at about 300 people or so. I hope this calms some of you as much as it calmed me.

I heard this from Assistant Dean Hall

i've been in review 12/17...
Anyone have any guesses on if this is a good or a bad thing?
My gpa and lsat seem to indicate ding, but its taken so long; I'm not a urm, but do have alot of elements that "contribute to diversity" and i know that is big for wisconsin.

Re: Wisconsin 2010 Application Cycle
I'm going to guess its an ok thing. They are just waiting to get to you in terms of where you are on the ladder of acceptance. Which could be low and later or high and sooner. You aren't technically waitlisted but there are prolly only a few spots left. Thats why I'm sending my letter when I get home tonight. It'll be in their inbox on monday : ). Send it to the catch all admissions email right?texlawtex wrote:i've been in review 12/17...
