Re: U Iowa 2010 App Cycle
I guess I'm a third class citizen then. Curious about Iowa's notification methods. I know that most, if not all, acceptances are e-mailed. I assume that rejections are snail mailed. What about waitlist?

Hoping I got WL in that same batch. Snail mail takes four-five days from IC to Florida. Thanks for the info!darknightbegins wrote:I got waitlisted through snail mail. Letter was dated March 19.

To those of you on the waitlist: did your ISIS status checker change?

Re: U Iowa 2010 App Cycle
No clue, Iowa wasn't one of the schools I was checking my ISIS status on. To be honest I just threw an application at them because of their rank, certainly not the best reason. I am in New Mexico so letters from Iowa shouldn't take much longer to get to Florida people than out in New Mexico.Whitters wrote:To those of you on the waitlist: did your ISIS status checker change?

No it did not. My status still reads "in progress." I was WLed today via snail mail (dated 3/19). I'm on the West Coast.Whitters wrote:To those of you on the waitlist: did your ISIS status checker change?

Got a letter today from Iowa saying that I'm on the WL. I have a 3.9/166 but didn't submit my app until mid-January.

Holy smokes. How can they waitlist someone with those numbers?meyer wrote:Got a letter today from Iowa saying that I'm on the WL. I have a 3.9/166 but didn't submit my app until mid-January.

Read my posts on the previous page, J. Dean Byrd actually talked to me quite a bit about this situation on my visit last week, and I posted what he told me on page 35.JCougar wrote:Holy smokes. Does the ISIS status change from "In Progress" for those who get rejected? Just trying to figure out my Waitlist/Reject status before the letter comes

Re: U Iowa 2010 App Cycle
But where are all these superstar applicants coming from? The number of applicants this cycle has risen by only 4% or so, and every school seems to think they're going to have a record number of superstar applicants. Yet there's only a finite number of applicans with certain LSAT scores and GPAs. UF is waitlisting people that would be auto-admits, Illinois says they they are going to have their best class ever, Wisconsin thinks they are going to raise their medians by at least a point, if not two, etc. Basically everywhere I've applied thinks they are about to have the best class ever.nyskidude wrote:Read my posts on the previous page, J. Applications have risen by over 7%, faster than the number of applicants, and the increase has mainly been at the top schools. I think top applicants are casting a wider net this year to make sure they get in somewhere good, but we could start to see many withdrawls around seat deposit day as these people narrow down their list of possibilities.
Maybe I'm totally wrong, but there has to be a reason why there are so many more highly qualified applicants this cycle when there hasn't been a very large increase in applicants.

Re: U Iowa 2010 App Cycle
I think you're right that we'll see a lot of movement off WL's in April and May. Tons of students are getting accepted (and getting $) to schools that they wont attend, and given the large pool of applicants, I imagine that there will be tons of movement. Just a suspicion though.JCougar wrote:Applications have risen by over 7%, faster than the number of applicants, and the increase has mainly been at the top schools. There are likely more applicants, and many more qualified/"superstar" applicants than in years past because the economy has forced otherwise highly employable people towards grad school, especially law school. Where they may have once had a job (as a friend of mine did) working for Goldman or some other large firm, those jobs have disappeared. Now more people are making the LS investment.

Talked to Iowa today. They have not ranked their waitlist yet, and may not. That's disconcerting for those who need to make a decision.

Sent letter to Iowa asking them to reconsider me for merit/need-based aid - nope. If I get into Wisconsin off the WL, I'm out at Iowa.

Could you e-mail them back and ask them to send me that money? Would really love it, especially since Wisconsin just e-mailed me and said that an UPDATED scholarship would be sent later this week...extempore88 wrote:Withdrew this afternoon. Stats are in my profile. Best of luck to y'all!

I don't think so. I think it will just be until April or even June that we hear about these partial scholarships because of the over-awarded full schollies that are inevitably going to be turned down.narkizopoint wrote:So Iowa did away with partial scholarships this year or what??

Add me to the waitlisted group. Heartbroken. I'm going to stick it out and hope for the best!
Those of you staying on the waitlist, did you send the response in a LOCI form or just include the info they asked for?

Like the school, but no scholarship offer and couldn't justify out-of-state tuition given other options = withdrawn.
Good luck to those still waiting.
