So, is it the consensus that Cardozo has been releasing acceptances on Tuesdays? Could we possibly hear something today?

I heard it was cheap but also fit its price. It looked like it cost about 1k for a studio that's about the size of a college dorm room. And that there were rats. I'll look into it, regardless.superflush wrote:Probably a lot. Re: Cardozo 2010
I went to an ASD yesterday and a few people asked about the housing in the Alabama. Apparently more detailed info will go up on their site in April, but the tour guide said she lived there her freshman year and had a studio and the pricing gets a little confusing because they do it per semester but she said it worked out to about $1800/month rent or so...and that the 2br apts were not too different coming out to about $1600/month (and that is still per person which sucks)...but, the whole area that Cardozo is in is going to be ridiculously expensive so you have to keep that in mind too.
(P.S. didn't hear anything about rats myself haha, but who knows-- the dorm was nothing too special, not terrible but nothing exciting...we only got to see the inside of two different studios-- must say they were a lot bigger than everyone expected)

Bigger is good... also I feel like rodent infestations more have to do with the cleanliness of an individual apartment than the building as a whole. Some animal living in the walls somewhere is kind of expected, yknow?tm912 wrote:we only got to see the inside of two different studios-- must say they were a lot bigger than everyone expected)
What about the summers? I'm leaning towards living somewhere where I can stay all year. I hated having to move everything in May and August as an undergrad. I'd like stability... and a place to live over the summers. And if I have to go to another city for a summer job, I'd like to sublease my apartment.tm912 wrote:the pricing gets a little confusing because they do it per semester but she said it worked out to about $1800/month rent or so...

The tour guide mentioned they let you stay the summer if you want, but because they were renovating a few rooms or something a few people had to leave I think-- don't quote me on that she was kind of unclear. I am pretty sure you cannot sublease those apartments though. Also, this is random and maybe not important but a few floors in the building are still lived in by like regular people-- haha non-students who were living there prior to Cardozo purchasing the property...just something to be aware of.sibley wrote:Bigger is good... also I feel like rodent infestations more have to do with the cleanliness of an individual apartment than the building as a whole. And as far as the Sneak Peek for whoever is considering going to one, I have to say it was really great. If you are going to go to one, definitely go to the optional morning sessions to sit in on classes- that was the best part, the professors were fantastic. Great tour of the school, students and faculty were all extremely friendly, in my opinion it is well worth it to go if you can. I am honestly considering Cardozo way more now than I thought I would be...

Hey, just got a phone call as well-submitted 10/17 but application was held until 1/6 due to the December LSAT; acceptance plus 32k/yr. 169/3.3.
I really don't know what to do, because I had just (literally just-like as of last week)-convinced myself to pay sticker at GW and was about to put my deposit down.

Congrats! and nice scholarship. Hopefully they'll 1) accept me soon and 2) give me a nice similar offer?jk11287 wrote:Hey, just got a phone call as well-submitted 10/17 but application was held until 1/6 due to the December LSAT; acceptance plus 32k/yr. 169/3.3.

When you make your decision, in addition to comparing atmospheres, programs, and job prospects don't forgot COL differences between the two.

Yeah, tell me about it-I'm from NY, so COL is really my primary concern. We could buy a decent condo in Northern VA (if I go to GW) for the same annual cost as a 400 sf studio in Harlem.

I'm from NY and live in DC. The mid to upper tier of the housing market in the DC area is obviously not as expensive as New York, but Arlington is not cheap, especially areas that are metro accessible. If you have a car, things change. But the same goes for NY.sibley wrote:jk11287 wrote:Thanks, sibley wrote:Congrats! and nice scholarship. Yeah, we're looking at condos in Alexandria. I know its not cheap, but honestly, I'd rather pay an absurd amount of money for a little more space than an absurd amount of money for a shoebox. Luckily, we're relying heavily on my fiance's income for living expenses over the next three years. If you're single and/or want to share an apartment, NYC is doable-but for a married couple with a dog who don't want to get divorced in a year, not so much.

Nearly all of the spats I have with my boyfriend have to do with lack of space.

Yeah, we have almost 1000 sf now and it can feel cramped sometimes haha; can't imagine a studio apartment.sibley wrote:jk11287 wrote:but for a married couple with a dog who don't want to get divorced in a year, not so much.

Waitlisted yesterday via email (2/15). Checked my status checker afterward and it had changed to "Decision rendered and sent."
162/3.8
Sent 12/28, went complete 1/9
Blah...guess I'm not going to be in NYC.
Good luck to everyone!
Edit to reflect that I withdrew, just not a viable option without some hope of scholarship dollars.
