Maybe it is just because I have not been accepted to any other schools yet (Santa Clara does not count till I get the letter in the mail), but I am finding it very easy to picture myself spending 3 years in Nashville studying law.

It definitely does. The low rent is just sucks me in! My fiancee (applying to medical school same cycle as me) has an interview at Vandy Med next month so we are seriously considering it. However we have to look at Penn and Duke and dream about Harvard as well. We graduated from a T5 ranked Ivy undergrad so we don't want to feel like having wasted that. (Not that going to Vandy Law and Med would, but we must consider other options as well) Even if they are more expensive cost of living wise...sigh.

Seriously, less than 900/mo for a 1 bedroom apt that is 800 square feet that is a 5-10 minute drive from campus?! Coming a city living, that is such a bargain.
I live in a city where a 2 bed+2 bath apartment costs less than $900 a month, so I wasn't really impressed with that. :D But compared to places like NYC/Los Angeles, yeah it's pretty good.

Yeah, moving to Nashville would actually increase my expenses. Our 2 bed 1 bath 824 sq ft apartment with washer and dryer included is only $529 a month. I guess that the price of "them big city livin" ;)

I would email them. I waited almost a month and never heard from my interviewer. Finally, they assigned me a new one, and I have an interview next week!

For those who have interviewed, any tips or advice?

Are phone interviews discouraged? My work schedule isn't very flexible right now.

My interviewer was a partner at a DC law firm. It was very informal, he just went straight off the resume. Have your "30 second personal commercial" ready, why you want to go to school, and why Vandy. I was (and always am in interviews) very casual and straightforward and it worked well for me. I got in

I had my interview this morning in San Antonio. My interviewer was really friendly and took me out to lunch. It was very casual and he just seemed genuinely interested in learning about my life. He questioned me about my resume, asked about high school, nothing at all that would give you trouble. He told me that the only thing Vandy wants the alum interviewers to tell them is their impression of your maturity and professionalism. I guess we will see how mine went. Good luck!

LSN shows the first rejection last year on 1/3/08 (app sent 11/23), a second one on 1/9 (sent 10/8), and then a flood of them starting 1/12 (sent anywhere from october onward)

...so not for a while (for rejections).

acceptances have already started for this year.

I requested a phone interview... the closest alumni option to me was two hours away, and I work full time.

I had my interview yesterday with an alum in my local area. It was somewhat formal interview in an office within his law firm building. The guy was very nice though and I enjoyed speaking with him. He told me some great stories and really increased my interest in Vanderbilt. The questions were fairly basic, and I had the chance to ask quite a few questions about his experiences as a student and as a lawyer. Hopefully he puts in some good words for me.

Yeah lots of people have already been admitted this cycle. No idea when the rejections will start.

The alum contacted me, saying that Vanderbilt had given him my information.

I don't know if I would say "lots". According to LSN, of the 300 apps this cycle only a dozen have heard back. I am clinging to that small percentage for hope.

Alright, fair enough. My point was that people (and more than just a couple) have started hearing back. And I'll wager that of those 300, half have yet to complete their interview, which means they can't hear back yet so the percentages are a little skewed.

I went complete earlier this week. Is there any real harm in doing a phone interview? I'd like to increase my chances, but I don't know how well I would interview via phone. (A face-to-face interview is not an option for me.)

I'd definitely go for it. Any opportunity you can have to make a favorable impression should be seized. I doubt you'd mess it up at all. Also, if they offer it and you decline then it may send the wrong signals.

Phone interview on Saturday. Guy seems nice and it only took 1 day after my request for him to call me.

Went complete today and have my interview on Wednesday. The guy sounded pretty nice on the phone, so we'll see how that goes. And as far as interview schedule turnaround time, I requested mine on Sunday night at like 1am and my interviewer called me at 10am Monday to schedule it. I was pretty impressed with the speed on that one.

I had my interview with an alum last week. It was very low key. He mostly talked about the school. Good luck! I am sure you will do fine.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
