Re: UC Davis
I got dinged a couple of days ago by snail mail
165/2.67
Davis was the highest ranked school I thought I could possibly get into, so that kinda sucked.
I wish CA residency counted for something, being that it is a public school and all...

so... filled out my FAFSA and NeedAccess a little while back, but still haven't heard anything from the schools I had the information sent to. Should I call Davis? Or let them contact me with the next steps?

Re: UC Davis
Accepted this weekend via status checker.
GPA < 25%
LSAT > 75%
App was complete 11/17.
I would just like to touch on the NA form, since I think this is pretty important. UC Davis specifies who should provide parental information on the NA form:
"Provide parent income information on the Need Application unless you meet one of the following criteria:
I am married and an older applicant (but younger than 30), so I E-mailed their fin aid office and asked for a parental info waiver. It is not indicated in their instructions that this is an option, but I've had success with other schools and tried it anyway. The response I received simply reiterated the instructions online, specifying that I could choose to leave out parent info, but then I might not be considered for grant aid. My parents were very upset that they had to include information, but the NA form allows your parents to create their own password and keep everything confidential.

In at Davis as of the 26th. Status checker had a link to the letter PDF. Did anyone else find the letter mildly cocky??
Will be withdrawing soon to open up spots for others. Good luck to everyone still waiting!

Re: UC Davis
I just received an E-mail from UC Davis today stating that they have looked at my NA form, but they haven't started looking at FAFSAs yet (and mentioned that this does not indicate whether or not they have received your FAFSA). No other school has mentioned anything about information they've received. I was just accepted to UC Davis this weekend, so I'm not sure if everyone receives that E-mail or just those who have been accepted.Neelio wrote:so... filled out my FAFSA and NeedAccess a little while back, but still haven't heard anything from the schools I had the information sent to. Ya, I called them today about the NA and FAFSA forms, and they told me the same thing. They also said they would be sending out emails with an approximate $$ amount you can expect for Financial Aid/Grants. Did you get that info in your email as well?blueberrymuffin wrote:I just received an E-mail from UC Davis today stating that they have looked at my NA form, but they haven't started looking at FAFSAs yet (and mentioned that this does not indicate whether or not they have received your FAFSA). Yes, that was included as an unofficial amount (since they hadn't reviewed FAFSAs yet).Neelio wrote:Ya, I called them today about the NA and FAFSA forms, and they told me the same thing. Well, it may be too late since it is already March 1st. I have a special circumstance as well. When I called the financial aid office they said to include as much information as I can an explanation for the missing information. Maybe you can do the same thing and exclude the information you do not want to provide.blueberrymuffin wrote:Accepted this weekend via status checker.

Did you write an addendum for the low GPA? If so, did you feel that the addendum would have been effective?rickter wrote:I got dinged a couple of days ago by snail mail

Re: UC Davis
There is plenty of work for free... Sacramento internships with state senators and assemblymembers. You can also find a local law office in Davis, Woodland, or Sacramento to get paid. There are job websites that may be helpful as well: jobs.ucdavis.edu or employment.ucdavis.edu.Zannie1986 wrote:still waiting. anyone know where people from davis get summer law jobs? sacramento or what? also does anyone like sacramento, i've heard bad things..

Accepted! Got a financial aid email offering 15K and then checked my status checker to find an accetance letter. Above 75th GPA and around median LSAT.
Was actually going to withdraw and will be doing so this week. Good luck to everyone still waiting!

Re: UC Davis
Yup, I still think it is worth asking for a waiver and giving an explanation. However, it seemed that some people were trivializing the requirement for parent info. As it turns out, the E-mail I received today did not say that I was eligible for any need-based grants.JDO wrote:Well, it may be too late since it is already March 1st.
