I'm officially attending King Hall next year! I didn't get any grant money, but I was able to use my full ride offers at other schools to negoriate a 10k per year merit scholarship! I can't believe it actually worked!

I guess the 10k makes the decision between UNLV and Davis a lot easier. Congrats on your decision!yo! wrote:I'm officially attending King Hall next year! Another Thursday. Deposit day, too.
Hoping for some Davis love today, but not expecting it. It'll probably take them a couple days to see what the initial yield is from the first round of deposits.
In the meantime, nothing but happy thoughts.

It's going to be funny when they get busted for gaming the rankings too. I don't see why USNWR torches some schools for all eternity after refusing to participate for a year, and then continues to reward those who falsify their numbers.Cale39 wrote:Dude, did people check out the new USNWR rankings. Jesus christ man....you came in here to bitch about the rankings too? Honestly, what is the point in spamming your bitterness in every thread? Get over it....you go to a great school. As far is I can tell, your career prospects will be much less affected by the USNWR rankings, than by the fact that you come off as a d-bag. You seemed cool enough before the rankings came out, what the fuck happened?swheat wrote:It's going to be funny when they get busted for gaming the rankings too. I'm right in your range (higher GPA, slightly lower LSAT), with pretty solid softs as well... hopefully I hear back soon or its 84k scholly at Loyola or 45k scholly at USD... I can't decide between those 2 at the moment so I'm hoping Davis makes it easy for meyo! wrote:sent 12/17 --> complete 1/12 --> under eval ~1/28 --> admitted 4/8pegleg wrote:Yo! What difference does it make what school I go to? Does it make my criticism any less valid? I could have posted the same thing in a Duke, Arizona State, Chapman, etc. thread.yo! wrote:Jesus christ man....you came in here to bitch about the rankings too? To the extent any of us believe that pre-law students should have an objective source for information about which law school to attend, I think we should all be alarmed about these kind of irregularities, regardless if it is our school who is creating the irregularity.

If Irvine belongs at 28, Davis definitely belongs at 28 or higher. I don't think they gamed the rankings, UC Davis is an excellent school.

irvine has better stats then USC. there's no employment stats yet (no one graduated) but why would davis be higher than Irvine?foosh wrote:If Irvine belongs at 28, Davis definitely belongs at 28 or higher. I don't think they gamed the rankings, UC Davis is an excellent school.

Congrats to everyone who will be joining us at King Hall next year. It's a pretty awesome place. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to resume freaking out over finals while being stared at by a giant creepy terra cotta statue of Dr. King.

Please gtfo. We get the point already man. There's no point in getting upset and posting this stuff everywhere. You're right, pre-law students do need objective sources to help make decisions on which school to attend. USNWR is a source, a single source amongst a plethora of other sources for students to consider. Sure, a lot of weight is put on these rankings, and since the factors USNWR considers may disproportionately favor certain schools over others , maybe you should blame USNWR for that. If they can't create a consistent system where schools are judged on an even playing field and this "gaming the rankings", as you call it, runs rampant, how credible of a source is it?swheat wrote:What difference does it make what school I go to? Duke cited that 100% of grads had jobs at graduation. Come on, we all know that's a stretch! There's definitely irregularities in the system, it's not perfect, we know. Perhaps you should start your own anti-USNWR thread and stop bashing our school. We're all pretty excited to be going to Davis next year (or the thought of it) and we don't need you to rain on our parade because of your dissatisfaction for the rankings.
Thanks!

Re: UC Davis
First, thank you for taking my argument seriously and not dismissing me or insulting me because of the school I attend. Second, you guys should all absolutely be proud of attending Davis. The school is great, and you are all fortunate to have been admitted. This kind of USNWR manipulation is not limited to Davis, as you mention very well regarded schools like Duke and ASU have done similar things this year. I am not trying to rain on anyone's parade...if I were under different circumstances I probably would have been happy to attend Davis as well.J Burrito wrote:You're right, pre-law students do need objective sources to help make decisions on which school to attend.
